A biting incident during Oz Comic-Con resulted in the police being called and a ban. Police went to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday afternoon after a man bit one of the artists at the convention.

Victoria Manton-Williams asked another vendor, Zyllion stall-holder Bowie Chong, if his art was AI-generated. Chong responded by telling Manton-Williams to “fuck off.” Chong snatched Manton-Williams’ phone away while she was filming the incident. This resulted in a friend of Manton-Williams pushing Chong who then bit the friend. Manton-Williams then tried to pull Chong off of her friend and she was pushed to the ground and kicked in the arm.

Oz Comic-Con has not said what its policy on AI-generated art or products at its convention. Their exhibition policy does have information about “bootleg,” “knock off,” and material that infringes upon copyright. The convention’s social media doesn’t seem to address any policy either. The convention has been called out in the past for allowing AI and “knock off” products that infringe on the show floor.

The matter has been referred to the police. The convention took place September 19 and 20.
