Soara and the House of Monsters” TV anime adaptation confirmed for 2027!

Currently serializing in Shogakukan’s Sunday Web Every, Soara and the House of Monsters has confirmed its TV anime adaptation! In addition to the release of the ultra-teaser visual and promotional video, the main animation staff and voices of the main character, Soara, and Kirik have also been announced. A special project to commemorate the TV anime adaptation has been revealed too!

Soara (VA: Ikumi Hasegawa)

A girl raised with the sole purpose of fighting monsters, with high combat ability and a deep understanding of monsters.

Having a serious personality, she sometimes finds it hard to keep up with Kirik and his team’s antics.

Voice of Soara; Ikumi Hasegawa’s comment

I’m the voice of Soara, Ikumi Hasegawa.

The first time I read the manga, I was encaptivated by the heartwarming story and intricately drawn world. While watching Kirik and his team build houses, I felt as though I was a child reading a picture book, filled with excitement. I’m extremely happy to be able to live in this world as Soara. It is a privilege to play this role, and I place great importance on portraying the emotional shifts my character goes through as she spends time with Kirik and the others. Please look forward to it!

Kirik (VA: Ayumu Murase)

A dwarf boy who claims to be an “architect of the monster world”.

A highly skilled craftsman with remarkable ability in architecture.

Though he is a big brother figure, his scaredy-cat side sometimes slips out. He travels across the monster world building houses for homeless monsters.

Voice of Kirik; Ayumu Murase’s comment

I’m honored to play the voice of Kirik.

When I read the manga, I was blown away by not just the originality of the content, but also by Yamaji-sensei’s breathtaking art style, the uniqueness of all the monsters, and most of all – Kirik’s way of life and charisma!

Each episode’s recording session features a unique lineup of guests, where we have fun while pouring our hearts into our characters. Whether you have or haven’t read the manga, I hope that you’ll look forward to the anime’s airing!

Minotaur #1 shows off potential but honestly, we’re not sure what to think yet

Five years ago, a government supercomputer triggered the Singularity: an explosion of technological superintelligence heralding an unimaginable tomorrow. At least, it almost did. Within moments, a failsafe activated. The plug was pulled. The future was aborted. But something leaked in those first picoseconds, through wire and wave. And now? The future fights back. Inexplicable events. Miracles and monsters. Harbingers of revolution…or apocalypse?

Minotaur is the tale of Gloria Monday, a photojournalist documenting the lives of those, like her, who are haunted, tortured, and transformed by outbreaks of the future; along with the no-nonsense ex-military muscle who watches her six, and the reformed tech bro secretly bankrolling their global mission to expose it all.

Champion of the Rose Vol. 1 is an interesting story of rebellion that feels a lot like Gladiator

As the largest kingdom in the Known World, the Empire of Sagrada is built on the keystones of conquest: gold, glory, and the Dying God. But when Princess Rosa unexpectedly finds herself the next heir to the throne, she is determined to change Sagrada for the better—until her father announces a glorious tournament of gladiatorial fights and blood magic, with Rosa’s hand and her throne as the prize.

In a desperate bid to win her own hand, Princess Rosa chooses Rey, a trans swordsman from the colony of Himala, as her champion in her father’s tournament. Kidnapped by Sagradan conquistadors and raised as a fighter, Rey is equally desperate to win his freedom and return to Himala with his partner, Teo. But, haunted by the past and his own quest for revenge, Rey is soon caught up in the destructive spectacle of the games, where the cost of power is blood, and the true prize is yet to be revealed.

A bold reenvisioning of the colonial history of Spain and the Philippines through an epic anti-imperialist fantasy about fighting for freedom in the face of empire.

Exclusive: TEZUKA! God of Manga – Ada Palmer discusses Tezuka’s drive to prove that manga can tell every type of story

It’s hard to overstate Osamu Tezuka’s influence on manga and anime in Japan and comic book and animation storytelling around the world. Before there was Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen, there was Tezuka’s Astro Boy: the loveable, iconic, atomic-powered robot boy. Known in Japan as Tetsuwan Atom, this loveable hero sprang fully formed from the imagination of Tezuka-sensei, AKA the “God of Manga.” Tezuka broke new ground in 1963 when he introduced Astro Boy as Japan’s first weekly animated TV program. Now, Peabody Award-winning director Jason Andrew Cohn and the Bread & Butter Films production team — will spotlight Osamu Tezuka’s life and legacy with TEZUKA! God of Manga, an all-new, feature-length documentary. Support the film on Kickstarter today.

TEZUKA! God of Manga will feature interviews with legendary manga and anime creators including Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), Riyoko Ikeda (Rose of Versaille), Naoki Urasawa (Monster), Go Nagai (Devilman), Yoshiyuki Tomino (Gundam), MADHOUSE co-founder and anime producer Masao Maruyama (Tokyo Godfathers), anime director Rintaro (Metropolis), best-selling fantasy author Ada Palmer (Too Like the Lightning), Samuel Sattin (Unico Awakening), and Jorge R. Gutierrez (The Book of Life), to discuss how Tezuka’s trailblazing influenced their work and changed the mediums of manga, comics, and animation.

The documentary will also include in-depth conversations with scholars Helen McCarthy (The Art of Osamu Tezuka), Natsu Onoda Power (God of Comics: Osamu Tezuka and the creation of post-World War II Manga), and the dean of English-language manga scholarship, Fred Schodt (Manga! Manga!) discussing his long working relationship with Tezuka. Once the film is funded, the producers will schedule additional interviews with artists including Paul Pope (THB) and Ron Wimberly (Prince of Cats).

Cohn and Tezuka Productions are also teaming up with some of today’s hottest manga and comic artists to create Kickstarter-exclusive collectible art prints featuring beautiful tributes to beloved Tezuka stories and characters. Fans can collect an astonishing Acetylene Lamp print by Shinichi Ishizuka (Blue Giant), striking takes on Astro Boy by Dave Baker (Mary Tyler MooreHawk) and Jorge R. Gutierrez (Book of Life), bold looks at Black Jack by Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth) and Yuko Shimizu (Barbed Wire Baseball), a beautiful Buddha print from Jesse Lonergan (Dome), a fantastic look at Phoenix by Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT), a pitch-perfect Princess Knight print by Elsa Charretier (November), unbelievable Unico artwork by Gurihuru (Unico Awakening, and a vibrant take on Vampires by Nicole Goux (Punk’n Heads).

Though he’s often compared to Walt Disney, Tezuka was arguably a greater cultural force. His mind-bending storylines — including Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, Princess Knight, and hundreds of others — ignited a post-war explosion of creativity that positioned Japan as a global leader in comics and animation to this day and influenced generations of creators around the world.

We have an exclusive clip of fantasy author, scholar, and Tezuka fan Ada Palmer discussing Tezuka’s drive to prove that manga can tell every type of story. Check out the clip above and support the project today!
