Crowdfunding Corner: His Name was Harvey Pekar. Help Save Storage Units of American Splendor History Before its Lost

A Kickstarter, “His Name was Harkey Pekar,” has launched to help save four storage units of creative history from Harvey Pekar and Joyce Brabner. Launched by Danielle, who grew up in their household, the project will help secure the spaces, and then physically protect, sort, and digitally archive their legacy before its lost.

Support directly funds the physical preservation—archival boxes, document sleeves, climate protection, and my dedicated time to go through thousands of pages of history.

While it sounds like Pekar’s comics and estate are in a complicated situation, this project is outside all of that and already has discovered un-cataloged pages and an unpublished short story by Joyce Brabner.

The project goes beyond comics but also Pekar’s personal Mosaic record collection and rare music archive.

The project has a $12,000 goal and about 3/4 of the way there as of this article. It ends on Tuesday, August 18 2026 9:00 PM EDT.
