In the recent “fauxsimile” edition of Batman #428, DC Comics featured an alternative ending in which Jason Todd survived his classic brutal encounter with The Joker, the shocking moment from “Death in the Family.” In an all-new story, we’ll see what happens after that encounter which he now survived.

On Wednesday, July 10, writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Rick Leonardi add an all-new chapter to this iconic story when From the DC Vault: Death in the Family: Robin Lives! #1.

In the original “Death in the Family,” fans decided Jason Todd’s fate by calling a n 800 number and casting a vote. Originally, they voted Jason didn’t survive his encounter. In December 2023, DC printed an alternate ending in which Jason lived.
