The Nib announces it’s winding down

The Nib

After years of biting political comics, The Nib has announced that it is closing down this summer. The latest issue, the Future issue, will be their last. The platform will continue to publish online every weekday through August at which point it will shit down.

The publication mentioned the rising costs of paper and postage, changing social media landscape, subsription exhaustion, and inflation as all reasons for it winding down.

Over its ten years, it has published more than 6,000 comics and paid out more than $2 million to creators as well as published multiple books. The Nib was nominated for this year’s Eisner Awards for “Best Anthology” for The Nib Magazine.

By running the site through the summer, the goal is to raise needed funds to pay bills, set up long term measures to preserve the site, and pay a severance to its editors.
