Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Beast go 1 and 2 at the weekend box office

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

It was a new top two at the weekend box office. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was the top weekend film with an estimated $20.1 million. The film also earned a little over $25.1 million internationally, for a worldwide debut of $45.2 million.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly opened in 2018 with a little under $10 million and went on to earn $30.7 million domestically, so everyone should be happy with this result.

Beast was in second place with an estimated $11.6 million. Internationally it earned $10.3 million for a worldwide total of $21.9 million.

Bullet Train slowed down a bit coming in third after the first two weeks in first. The film grossed a little over $8 million and domestically has earned a little under $69 million. Over the week, the film added about $21 million internationally which has boosted to $81 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little under $150 million.

Top Gun: Maverick continues to impress. The film added $5.8 million to its domestic total which now stands at $683.4 million. Over the week it earned about $25.8 million internationally to bring that to $720 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.403 billion. The film is now #6 in all-time domestic gross and has passed Avengers: Infinity War. It’s now about $17 million behind Black Panther which there’s a good chance it’ll be able to gross. Worldwide, the film ranks #12 having passed Avengers: Age of Ultron this week as well. It’s $47 million behind Frozen II.

Rounding out the top five was DC League of Super-Pets which has held in there and grossed $5.8 million. Domestically the film has grossed $67.5 million so far. Over the week it earned about $11.5 million internationally to bring that total to $62.9 million. Worldwide the film has grossed $130.4 million.

In comic film news…

Thor: Love and Thunder has slipped out of the top five and came in at #6 with an estimated $4 million. The film has now grossed $332.1 million. Internationally, the film grossed about $9.9 million over the week to bring that to $405 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $737.1 million.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks like it has held steady domestically at $411.3 million. Internationally, the film added about $150,000 and now stands at $543.7 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little under $955 million.

The week’s overall box office success…

Initial numbers has 53 films earning $78,906,253 from 41,395 theaters. That’s better than last weekend’s $65,363,185 from 39,394 theaters and 56 films. It’s a decent weekend but continues the weeks short of $100 million. The average earning was $1,906.18 this past weekend, again, an increase from last weekend’s $1,659.22.
