In second place again was Ticket to Paradise which earned a bit over $10 million. The film has now grossed $33.7 million after two weeks. Internationally, things have slowed down a bit with the film earning $5.4 million over the week to lift that to $85.7 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $119.4 million.

Prey for the Devil was a newcomer and landed in third. The film debuted with a little over $7 million. No international numbers have been reported.

Smile slipped one spot to fourth with a bit over $5 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $92.4 million. Over the week, the film grossed $11.7 million internationally to bring that to $93.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $186 million.

Black Adam boosts the weekend box office with a strong performance

Black Adam exceeded expectations and gave the box office a much needed juice. The film opened with a reported $67 million, a bit higher than initial predictions. The film also earned an estimated $73 million at the international box office to deliver a worldwide opening of $140 million.

That opening is better than Shazam! which saw $53.5 million its first weekend domestically, The Suicide Squad‘s $26 million opening, and Wonder Woman 1984‘s $16.7 million. The latter two also opened during the pandemic.

While the film’s critical reviews have been rather negative, the audience has been much more forgiving with a generally positive though mixed response. With another two weeks before Blakc Panther: Wakanda Forever hits the box office, the film should have a decent run.

In second place was a bit of counter programming, Ticket to Paradise. The movie opened with $16.3 million domestically. It already opened internationally where it has scored $80.3 million after two weeks. Worldwide, the film has grossed $96.6 million.

Over the week, the film added about $10.6 million to its international total to bring that to $27.8 million. The film has grossed a little over $82 million after two weeks.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile rounded out the top five with an estimated $4.2 million to bring its domestic total to $28.7 million. Internationally, the film added $4.5 million to its total to bring that to $8.4 million. Worldwide the movie has grossed $37.1 million.

Halloween Ends tops the weekend box office but delivers a sad opening for the trilogy

Halloween Ends won the weekend box office with a solid $41.3 million. That was the lowest debut of the new trilogy and might be due to the very mixed word of mouth. 2018’s Halloween opened with $76.2 million and went on to earn $159.3 million domestically. 2021’s Halloween Kills opened with $49.4 million and went on to only earn $92 million domestically.

Internationally, the film opened with $17.2 million for a worldwide total of $58.4 million. It should be interesting to see how well the film does in the second weekend, expect a massive drop but maybe Jason will come back for more as people celebrate Halloween season.

Avatar came in third place earning $10 million. Internationally, the film grossed $20.5 million for a worldwide total of $30.5 million. The film still holds the record for worldwide gross and this only adds to that.

Barbarian dropped from second place to fourth grossing $4.8 million but it only saw a 26.2% decrease. Domestically, the film has grossed $28.4 million. Over the week, the film grossed another $500,000 internationally to bring that to $1.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $29.9 million.
