Logan Dominates the Weekend with Get Out Having a Modest Drop
As it’s no surprise, Logan came in first place this past weekend with an estimated $88.4 million. The “R” rated film had the widest release of a film of its type with 4,071 screens. The film saw $10.1 million of its dollars coming from 381 IMAX screens. The film earned a similar amount in foreign IMAX screens with $10.6 million. The film earned $159 million in 81 foreign markets for $247.4 million so far.
That film bumped Get Out down to second place. The movie had a moderate drop compared to its debut week which is not surprising due to its positive word of mouth. Get Out added $26.1 million to its domestic haul. The $4.5 million budget film has earned $75.95 million in just two weeks.
The Shack debuted in third place with an estimated $16.1 million. That’s the 7th biggest opening of a film in the Christian genre.
The LEGO Batman Movie came in fourth after being in second last weekend. It added $11.7 million to its domestic total to bring it to $148.6 million. Internationally the film has earned $108.2 million for a grand total of $256.8 million. The LEGO Movie earned $469.1 million before its run was over.
In fifth place was Before I Fall. That film earned an estimated $4.9 million in its debut weekend.
In more comic related movie news, Doctor Strange added $44,000 to its domestic total to bring it to $232.6 million. The film currently sits at $676.9 million.
