Review: Ghost Wolf TPB

sub006373-_sx312_ql80_ttd_This is the story told one thousand times. A story of revenge. A story of survival. The legend of the avatar of the Wolf Clan. The Ghost Wolf.

Collecting Ghost Wolf issue 1-4 this graphic novel collection is broken into two separate parts. Part 1, tells the connected stories of the first two issues, of the Ghost Wolf returning as one man loses his people to  cannibalistic tribes, that have united under one man. Part 2, collects issues 3 & 4. While part two tells a similar tale, the setting is vastly different. Taking influence from Vikings, it features Stonehenge, a mighty Shield-Maiden, and a greed driven Jarl.

Nothing says a violent world, like blood on snow. That is very clear in the first two issues, where a blanket of white dominates the landscape. Where the color is minimal as the characters, the Hungry Ones, are the consistent elements of color against the stark white snow. In an odd contrast to this, issues 3 & 4, and much more colorful. The characters are superbly drawn throughout all four issues.
