TV Review: iZombie S2E9 Cape Town

normal_izombietv_s01promo_001-1~0A high school shop teacher, who becomes a vigilante crime fighter named “The Fog” by night, is murdered. Meanwhile, Major engages in an eye-opening conversation with a new friend; and Blaine forces Live to do the unthinkable.

iZombie has a lot of fun this episode when Liv has to eat the brain of a superhero taking on his mannerisms and outlook. The result… a lot of fun!

This episode isn’t just about Liv’s mannerisms to make it work. What really makes that happen is the angle of the camera and the music used. This episode is an homage to the superhero films we love and it’s as much as a love letter as it is a send-up. She does a Batman!

What really stands out in this episode is Major stumbling upon a zombie who also happens to be a hooker. What she says is so devastating and sad and gets you to think a lot more about some of the zombies, and these types of zombies in general.

The episode is a mix of fun and heart and one of the better of this season. And that ending is amazing! Start to finish, the best episode of the season.
