Hotel Transylvania 2 Tops the Box-Office with a Record

Hotel Transylvania 2Hotel Transylvania 2 has broken a September record and earned an estimated $47.5 million this past weekend. The first film opened two years ago, and was the previous record holder. This one beat that by $5 million.

The Intern opened in second place with $18.225 million and The Green Inferno also debuted and came in ninth with $3.494 million.

The previous weekend winner Mazer Runner: The Scorch Trials dropped to third bringing in an estimated $14 million.

In other geek film news, Minions added $444,000 to its total; Jurassic World added $387,000 to its total, Inside Out added $382,000 to its total; and Ant-Man added $360,000 to its total.

  1. Jurassic World – $650.44 million
  2. Avengers: Age of Ultron – $458.83 million
  3. Inside Out – $353.51 million
  4. Furious 7 – $351.03 million
  5. Minions – $333.52 million

Worldwide

  1. Jurassic World – $1.6599 billion
  2. Furious 7 – $1.5117 billion
  3. Avengers: Age of Ultron – $1.4026 billion
  4. Minions – $1.1194 billion
  5. Inside Out – $774.5 million
