Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle must save LEGO Humanity in LEGO Dimensions
It looks like LEGO has decided to keep up the set universe mixing from the popular LEGO Movie in their video game LEGO Dimensions, which will be out in September 27, 2015. The teaser trailer is awesome and game looks like it plays off of the popular style of toys + video games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity. According to the Amazon pre-order page you will purchase expansion packs and build a collection of figures that allow you to mix and match up to 7 characters, vehicles, and weapons int to the game.
The official description is below:
When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO worlds, different characters from DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings and The LEGO Movie are swept away. To save their friends, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle bravely jump into the vortex and quickly find themselves fighting to save all of LEGO humanity.
Let creativity be the guide to a building and gaming adventure – journey through unexpected worlds and team-up with unlikely allies on the quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech. Play with different minifigures from different worlds together in one LEGO videogame, and use each other’s vehicles and gadgets in a way never before possible. LEGO Bad Cop driving the DeLorean Time Machine…why not?! The LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitsu fighting alongside Wonder Woman…yes, please! Get ready to break the rules, because the only rule with LEGO Dimensions is that there are no rules.
The game features such properties as the Wizard of Oz and Back to the Future and will see packs released to allow access to new characters, vehicles, and more.
Packs planned for release in 2015 include:
- A Back to the Future Level Pack with a Lego Marty McFly minifigure
- A Lego Ninjago Team Pack with Kai and Cole minifigures
- Three Ninjago Fun Packs with Jay, Nya and Zane minifigures
- Two DC Comics Fun Packs with Wonder Woman and Cyborg minifigures
- Three The Lord of the Rings Fun Packs with Lego Gollum, Lego Gimli and Lego Legolas minifigures
- Four The Lego Movie Fun packs with Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny and Unikitty characters
- A The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack with a Lego Wicked Witch of the West minifigure
More packs and plans will be announced down the road, but the continued compatibility of packs and the game in the short term and down the road is being emphasized by LEGO. Future expansion packs will work with the starter pack “even in the fall of next year,” according to the press release.
