TV Review: iZombie S1E4 Liv and Let Clive

normal_izombietv_s01promo_001-1~0Clive refuses Liv’s help when one of his former criminal contacts is murdered.

The fourth episode of iZombie expands on Blaine’s plan. It’s laid out exactly what he’s up to, and the planning he’s doing. As usual it’s Rose McIver‘s acting as Liv that stands out in the episode.

McIver really deserves an award for her performance so far. With each new brain she ingests she takes on some of the personality of the person. This gets her to do some quirky things, like in this episode’s paranoia. It’s subtle at first, and like each episode it’s pointed out the quirk so we the viewers catch on about it. Without that, we might wonder what the personality trait is, and it could cause her to be less likeable as a character.

In this one, she also takes on some more abilities that allows her to kick some more ass than usual. It’s a nice twist to see her use her fists as much as her brains and visions.

There’s also a lot as far as characters’ histories. We learn more about Clive. We meet Liv’s brother. Ravi and Major have their moments. The personal stuff is few and far between, but it’s more than welcome when it comes up in episodes. More of that please! The series continues its lighthearted ways. iZombie is a fun series, there’s no other way to explain it. And it’s a television show I’m looking forward to each watching each and every week.
