During San Diego Comic-Con, BOOM! Studios announced that they were indeed going to publish Escape From New York comics confirming what we all figured out from the previous week’s teaser. Starting in December writer Christopher Sebela will be taking on the cult classic John Carpenter movie. An artist will be announced later.

Released in 1981 the movie takes place in the then-near future of 1997, Manhattan has been converted to a maximum security prison. When Air Force One crash lands there, ex-soldier Snake Plissken (played by Kurt Russell in the film) is given 22 hours to rescue the President of the United States and the sensitive information he’s carrying.
