Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Wicked+Divine01_CoverAWednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in. Below are ten suggestions of comics, graphic novels, or trade paperbacks you should spend some extra time checking out.

Top Pick: The Wicked + The Divine #1 (Image Comics) – Every ninety years, twelve gods incarnate as humans. They are loved. They are hated. In two years, they are dead. But remember: just because you’re immortal, doesn’t mean you’re going to live forever. The first issue is over-sized and it is fantastic. An absolute must buy, and we’re sure it’ll sell out.

Alex + Ada #7 (Image Comics) – This series has been a fantastic look at relationships and more so gets into philosophical territory about what is life. Well worth the read.

Archie #656 (Archie Comics) – Archie diversifies their characters even more introducing Harper, a new disabled character!

Brain Boy: Men From Gestalt #2 (Dark Horse) – Pure action fun.

The Final Plague TPB (Action Lab: Danger Zone) – Out of all the comics that have come out this past year, this series gave us the chills with each issue.

Harbinger #24 (Valiant) – The last issue featured the death of a character, and this one felt heartfelt and slight shocking. This is how you do death. Yes, I know that’s weird to say.

Kill Shakespeare: Mask of Night #1 (IDW Publishing) – New Kill Shakespeare! Be entertained and learn about some of the classics too!

Sex Criminals #6 (Image Comics) – One of the top series out there. Nuff said.

Thomas Alsop #1 (BOOM! Studios) – A new series that has a solid “Vertigo” feel about it, but out from the excellent BOOM!. The first issue is another solid debut from the company and its creators.

Velvet TPB Vol. 1: Before the Living End (Image Comics) – A kick-ass female lead from Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting. It’s awesome spy action.
