Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Magnus01-Cov-Hardman-NoDressIt’s a new week for comics and we’re helping you make your way through the numerous releases to narrow it down as to what comics should be a part of your buy pile. Below see what we’ve put together as far as 10 comics (and one trade or graphic novel) you should be checking out!

  • Top Pick: Magnus Robot Fighter #1 (Dynamite) – Magnus is back in Dynamite’s revived Gold Key line of comics. Fred Van Lente takes the reigns as writer for this updated take on the classic character. So far, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, the first release of the line, has been excellent and we expect this to be the same.
  • Avengers Undercover #1 – Marvel’s youngest heroes are back in this continuation of Avengers Arena. We’ll see how Arcade’s torture has changed them.
  • Death Sentence #6 – Titan Comics’ series has been over the top fun. It involves an STD that gives you super powers but kills you in 6 months.
  • The Fox #5 – Archie has put together some super hero fun that can be enjoyed by everyone.
  • Garth Ennis’ Red Team #7 – It’s been a while since the last issue, but this series about crooked cops is so good.
  • Hawkeye #17 – One of the best series on the market. It should be on everyone’s list.
  • Liberator: Earth Crisis #1 – The animal rights series is back, this time with the help from the band Earth Crisis.
  • The Returning #1 – BOOM!’s latest horror series has to deal with near death experiences and sounds too interesting to not check out.
  • Stray Bullets: The Killers #1 – The acclaimed series is back with a new volume.
  • Superior Foes of Spider-Man #9 – I love this series. One of my favorite debuts of 2013. The focus on Spider-Man’s C list villains is hilarious and beyond entertaining.
