The men involved in his wife’s death must die. All of them. Writer Justin Jordan and artist Matteo Scalera bring us this story of one man’s revenge and the dark road he travels. That’s the new comic, Dead Body Road.

With a set up like that and a title like that, this sounds like a good revenge tale full of pulpy violence and over the top moments. Hopefully it meets with expectations but know Jordan’s previous work, I’m pretty sure it will.

Expect another hit from publisher Image Comics with this one.

Top Pick: Dead Body Road #1 (Image Comics) – see above why this is on my list

Death Sentence #3 (Titan Comics) – I’ve loved the first two issues of this series about a sexually transmitted disease that gives you powers, but also kills you in 6 months.

Indestructible #1 (IDW Publishing/Darby Pop Publishing) – The first book from Darby Pop. Indestructible is the story of a not-so-heroic slacker, Greg Pincus who when he finds himself in the wrong place at the right time, thwarts a robbery with what the general public believes to be “superpowers.”

Superior Foes of Spider-Man #6 (Marvel) – This has been one of the best debuts by Marvel this year. The focus on Spider-Man’s “B” list of villains has been entertaining and fun with every issue.

Unity #2 (Valiant) – The first issue was a hell of a debut. I imagine the second will be just as solid.

Graphic Novel/TPB Top Pick: Richard Starks’ Parker: Slayground (IDW Publishing) – Every release of this pulp series has been an amazing read and beautiful to look at. Expect another fantastic noir read.

Top Pick: Dead Body Road #1 (Image Comics) – I love a good revenge story, and with a title like this I know I’m going to get some hardcore, pulpy violence. Bring it on.

Batman #26 (DC Comics) – I don’t even know what to say about this anymore. Read this book, people! Read it for the story. Read it for the art. Read it for the lettering, I don’t care. Just read it.

Lazarus #5 (Image Comics) – This is the beginning of a new arc, and I can’t wait to see how Jonah’s betrayal, and Johanna’s manipulation of him, plays out.

Manifest Destiny #2 (Image Comics) – The debut of his book wasn’t immediately amazing, but come on: centaurs in the Louisiana Purchase.That’s definitely worth a read.

Graphic Novels/Trades:

Snapshot (Image Comics) – I hear mixed reviews about the story, but the fact that Jock did the interiors sold it for me. I’d probably read anything with his name on it. He could draw a My Little Pony mini series, and I’d eventually read it.

Sheltered Vol. 1 (Image Comics) – This book collects issues 1-5 of a series that consistently grew and got better as it went on, and everyone should really give it a chance.
