Marvel‘s latest movie, Thor: The Dark World opens up in North America this weekend and brought in an estimated $7.1 million Thursday night. The film officially opened Thursday during 8 p.m. showings.

The original Thor movie earned $3.25 million during its Thursday opening in 2011. Captain America: The First Avenger opened with $4 million. Iron Man 3 earned $15.6 million and The Avengers made $18.7  million.

The movie has done well so far, and earned $109 million this past weekend when it opened up internationally. With a budget of $170 million, the film is estimated to earn $89 to $95 million this weekend.
