This week sees numerous new comics and some high profile releases. The top pick, partially because I’ve already read it, is Justice League of America #1. DC Comics launches a new superhero team, one to compete with the Justice League. The first issue is all about the who and the why. Who is making up the team and what do they bring to it, warts and all. Also, why is this team forming? What’s their role in the greater DCU? The first issue knocks it out of the park, creating an entertaining read and in a way that makes me want to come back for the next issue. Something some other DC launches struggled with. I’d go so far to say that this launch was better than the Justice League’s over a year ago. The first issue lays out a lot and hints at something big to come, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

• Kill Shakespeare: Tide of Blood #1 – The second volume begins of this Shakespeare mash-up. Picking up after the victories of last story, how does a world build a nation, especially after what they’ve learned about their existence?
• Nova #1 – Marvel NOW!’s latest launch is a new Nova. Should be interesting to see what’s in store.
  
• The Black Beetle: No Way Out #2 – The first issue was pulp perfection.
  
• Revival #7 – One of Image’s best comics. The dead have risen, but not in the stereotypical zombie sort of way.
