Updated – Stan Lee Media Sues Over Conan
According to Muzic Magazine, Stan Lee Media is suing the producers of the new Conan the Barbarian movie. In the lawsuit, they claim that Stan Lee Media purchased the rights to Conan in 2000.
Stan Lee Media went bankrupt in 2001 which would prevent another company from obtaining the rights to Conan. It’s alleged a lawyer made an illegal deal to Nu Image/Millennium Films for the new movie.
Stan Lee Media is suing to be declared the owner of the rights to Conan and entitled to 100 per cent of the movie’s profits. With it’s poor performance opening weekend, I’m not too sure there’s going to be profits for him to gain. The movie brought in $10 million in it’s opening weekend and cost somewhere around $80 million to make.
Corrected: In an earlier version we reported Stan Lee was suing, when in fact it’s Stan Lee Media, we apologize and have corrected the article.
