Rise of the Planet of the Apes took the weekend box office with a commanding $54 million.  The movie received very positive reviews from all over.  The Smurfs took in second place, adding an additional $21 million to it’s total.  Cowboys & Aliens, a comic book based movie that was number one last weekend, dropped to third with an estimated $15.7 million.  The movie has brought in a total of $67 million.

Captain America: The First Avenger was fifth this week, bringing in $13 million for a three-week total of $143 million.
