ABC Looks at Digital Comics

ABC News headed to San Diego Comic-Con and instead on focusing on the physical medium, they turned their attention to emerging digital comics.  The story paints the industry as dying much like newspapers but also goes with a positive spin.

Ira Rubenstein, a vice president of Marvel Entertainment was quoted as saying:

I think digital enables a whole new audience to experience comic books that haven’t had access.

The discussion of physical shops is brought up, and the usual talk of “only the good surviving” is thrown around.  The article pegs digital sales as 5% of the $1 billion in annual sales.

It’s an interesting if somewhat empty read with little new insight.
