The Secrets of The Expanse Are Revealed in a Brand New Series

BOOM! Studios has announced The Expanse, a new four-issue limited comic book series from writer Corinna Bechko and artist Alejandro Aragon which is set between Season 4 and the upcoming fifth season of the Amazon Prime Video hit television series, The Expanse. The limited comic book series is available in comic shops starting December 2, 2020.

The Expanse picks up with Chrisjen Avasarala at the end of the television show’s fourth season. The longtime Secretary-General of the United Nations finds herself dealing with the outcome of the tumultuous elections for her position and far from Earth but not its politics. When Bobbie Draper – a former Martian marine – brings Avasarala intel on an intergalactic black market weapons ring, Avasarala sees a chance to reclaim her political position through a clandestine operation. But as Draper digs deeper into this secret cabal, she soon realizes the threat they pose is far larger – and closer to home – than either of them ever imagined.

The Expanse #1, featuring main cover art by artist W. Scott Forbes, as well as variant cover art by Tigh Walker and more, will be available December 2, 2020.

NYCC 2019: Amazon Prime Video Brings The Expanse

Amazon‘s Prime Video Original The Expanse experience will bring New York Comic Con-goers and fans on an interstellar experience during NYCC to celebrate the show’s new home at Amazon Prime Video and the premiere of its fourth season.

Upon arrival, fans will transform into fearless explorers as they join the crew of the show’s Rocinante spaceship. Attendees will step aboard the Hollywood-level spacecraft to journey to the upcoming season’s distant new setting. Guests will star in their own recreations of the Season 4 artwork, as they dramatically alight to take their first steps on New Terra – or Ilus, depending on your allegiance – in a highly sharable photo booth experience.

The show’s far-away journey becomes reality at NYCC 2019 courtesy of Prime Video. As our rookie adventurers line up and embark, The Expanse ambassadors instruct them on what to expect inside the ship, briefing these brave explorers on their one-way mission to boldly step out into the unknown. Amidst the authentic props and flickering screens, an array of Easter eggs, show references, and Snapchat-enabled Belter tattoos draw everyone deeper into The Expanse’s distinctive universe.

The Expanse Board Game – Coming Soon!

The upcoming board game The Expanse, based on the Syfy hit television series by the same name, will be released this June as announced by WizKids president Justin Ziran.

Geoff Engelstein, whose credits include the popular board games Space Cadets, Dragon and the Flagon and the upcoming Fog of War, designed the new game. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, the authors of the best selling original book series published under the pen name James S. A. Corey, collaborated on the project.

The Expanse board game can be played with two to four players and focuses on politics, conquest and intrigue similar to the board game Twilight Struggle, although with a shorter play time. The card-driven game uses key images from the show along with action points and events that allow players to move and place “Fleets” and “Influence”.

Players represent Earth’s UN forces, the military of Mars, the rebels of the O.P.A. and the mysterious corporation Protogen Inc. Each player has special abilities that must be maneuvered to gain advantage. Players increase their control over the solar system using characters and events from the universe of The Expanse.

The board game will be available in stores this summer for $49.99 MSRP and includes a game board, Influence cubes, Fleet tokens, player mats, action cards, tech cards, misc. tokens and rules.
