Amazing Spider-Man 2 Damages Rochester, NY
Things didn’t seem to go smooth as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 went to Rochester, NY to film scenes. While the movie gave a cash infusion to the region, it also brought some damage and chaos.
On the third day of filming, the movie damaged city property including a storefront. A tow-truck used in the filming veered off of it’s path and struck another another car and then a storefront. A window of the building was shattered, a city bench and planter were destroyed and a light-pole was also damaged. The film will reimburse the city and business for the damages.
The chaos wasn’t isolated to the city, reports have come in of a loss of water at a local hotel due to filming as well. Though we don’t know specifics, folks visiting the city for unrelated events were greeted to a lack of water of their hotel. When they asked the hotel what was up, they were told that it was due to the filming. Guests of the hotel were also under increased security, having to prove they were guests of the hotel to enter.
The filming lead to numerous road closures, but from photos leaked out, we now know there’s at least one robbery and gun fight and crash of police cars.
