Black Squadron’s been locked away in a Republic prison! But they’re not locked in there with us, they’re locked in with…Terrex?! Can Poe and co. get the info they need and get free?

It’s a jail break! Writer Charles Soule has been giving us an entertaining read so far with this Star Wars series focused on Poe Dameron and the Black Squadron.

Star Wars: Poe Dameron #5 brings the very played out jail break story to the Star Wars universe and of course there’s some small twists here and there. What I’ve been really enjoying about the series isn’t the fact that it’s tied into Force Awakens, but that it’s giving us a lot more about Dameron and his crew.

While Dameron is on the title of the series, it’s as much about the rest of the folks he flys with as anything. Every character gets their moments as we learn about characters who may have had just a few lines in the film. It’s a great way to really expand upon this group in an entertaining way.

The jailbreak too is a fun read. Soule uses each character in a special way making them all stand out. It also gives us an idea that Dameron isn’t just a good pilot, he’s a solid leader and a bit of a rogue himself.

Phil Noto‘s art continues to impress. The characters are recognizable and look like the actors that protray them, but what I’m really impressed by is that the world is so seemless. Though there’s human characters there’s also the craxy aliens you’d expect in a Star Wars series. It all works together. Also, there’s a lot of characters here and Noto nails it all.

This series, like all of the Star Wars comics, have been fantastic adding to the universe. It’s a must for Star Wars fans, and for those that enjoy a good jailbreak story, this is one to check out.
