Infinite Crisis Champion Profile: Sinestro

In search of perfect order and vengeance upon his enemies, Sinestro’s power is fueled by fear.

A former mentor to Hal Jordan, he was once a renowned Green Lantern, praised by many. But when Jordan exposed Sinestro’s use of oppression and fear to “create order,” everything changed. Sinestro was put on trial and banished to the antimatter universe, where he found a new kind of power ring that channeled not Willpower, but Fear. In time, Sinestro would even come to control Parallax, the living embodiment of all fear.

As a Blaster, Sinestro eliminates his enemies by spreading silence and fear to cull the weak.

Top Pick: Transformers: Windblade #1 (IDW Publishing) – Dark Cybertron is over

American Vampire: Second Cycle #2 (Vertigo) – The excellent Vertigo series is back giving us an amazing modern take on the vampire mythos.

Ghost Wolf #1 (Amigo Comics) – When the sons of Corr lost their courage, they were captured  by the wild tribes. But there was one man who decided to fight… and he paid for this with his very life. He will become the vessel for the long, forsaken spirit of vengeance… The Ghost Wolf!

Hulk #1 (Marvel) – As he clings to life, the mystery of his attacker will have everyone talking. Who shot Bruce Banner? And why did they want him dead? Mark Waid’s Hulk is back!

Ms. Marvel #3 (Marvel) – One of the best debuts of 2014 or THE best debut of 2014?

Sinestro #1 (DC Comics) – DC’s some time hero is back in his own solo series. Should be interesting to see what they do with a crowded group of Lantern books, and how they make this series stand out.

Solar: Man of the Atom #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) – The classic character is back as Dynamite’s exciting return of the Gold Key line of comics continues!

Superior Spider-Man #31 (Marvel) – Writer Dan Slott continues to knock it out of the park with his exciting take on Spider-Man!

Translucid #1 (BOOM! Studios) – The Horse has been the arch-enemy of The Navigator for years. But The Horse feels The Navigator’s moral compass slipping, and even a villain can’t let that happen. It explores the thin line between heroes and villains, and the space between childhood hope and loss.

Ultimate FF #1 (Marvel) – Marvel’s Ultimate Universe is being rebuilt and so far it’s been positive, both in tone and quality.

Green Lantern Mimobot USB Drives

Just in time for the movie, Mimobot is bringing out a line of USB drives based on Green Lantern. The USB drives come in 2GB and 16 GB and features Hal Jordan, Tomar-Re, Kilowog, and Sinestro. Having got one of their products last year at New York Comic Con, I have to say it’s a great product and conversation starter.

On each USB drive are wallpapers, avatars, screensavers and icons. Can’t wait to see what these look like in person.

Heroclix Sinestro and Abin Sur

Wizkids continues it’s preview of Heroclix for the upcoming set for this summer’s movie Green Lantern.  The latest two figures to be shown off are Sinestro and Abin Sur.  The set will be released May 18th.

Heroclix SinestroFrom the Wizkids website:

At only 135 points, Sinestro comes to the fight armed with lots of useful tricks resulting from his many years of experience as a Green Lantern.  Sinestro’s opening click Running Shot helps him get in to the fight and manuever where he can do the most good.  However, if the Lantern from Korugar would rather pick his moment more carefully, Sinestro can instead use his Telekinesis to either position an ally or enemy to a better tactical position for your Green Lanterns!

Early-dial Enhancement demonstrates Sinestro’s tutelage and experience being put to good use by other Green Lanterns, and gives way to Perplex as Sinestro takes a more active role in directing the Lanterns’ efforts.  Toughness helps manage some of the damage dealt to Sinestro while mid-dial Defend helps keep those Green Lantern rookies safe!

Late-dial, Sinestro trades in his Defend for Energy Shield/Deflection as he attempts to better protect himself from ranged attacks.  We also see a hint of the Sinestro we’ve all come to know as he picks up more aggressive tactics with Blades/Claws/Fangs and Exploit Weakness.

Heroclix Abin SurFrom the Wizkids website:

At only 70 points, Abin Sur is a welcome addition to Green Lantern teams.  Early-dial Running Shot and Ranged Combat Expert give Abin all sorts of ranged options as he enters the battle.  No matter what you choose, with his Willpower Abin Sur is able to follow up the next turn with a similar attack or use the other option!

Mid-dial Abin Sur picks up Incapacitate as he attempts to lock down the foes of the Green Lantern Corps.  Late-dial Abin Sur gets grounded by some Earthbound/Neturalized but picks up some Pulse Wave proving you can’t keep a good Green Lantern down!

Heroclix – White Lantern Sinestro

Bookmark and Share

Wizkids has released a preview of it’s latest creation for the DC 75th Heroclix, White Lantern Sinestro.

Heroclix White Lantern SinestroFrom the Wizkids website:

Solid and consistent combat values, the ability to move and attack on more than half his dial, and the Quintessence Team Ability all make for a formidable foe.  Consider also his White Sword and LIVE! special powers, both which allow Sinestro to stay on the battlefield longer, while also dealing out damage (in the case of the former).
