Aspen Heads to Fan Expo Vancouver

Aspen Comics is pleased to head north of the border and back to Canada for the first of two back-to-back weekends. Beginning on April 20th– 21st, Aspen will be attending the Fan Expo Vancouver 2013 convention and will be bringing some of their finest creators along with exclusive comics and prints.

Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Siya Oum and J.T. Krul will be at the Aspen Comics Booth all weekend long to meet fans, sign autographs and offer free sketches.

The all-new Aspen series Jirni will celebrate its release with a special Jirni #1 Fan Expo Vancouver 2013 exclusive cover by series artist Paolo Pantalena and Nei Ruffino, limited to 300 copies. Aspen will also be offering an exclusive Shrugged #2 Fan Expo Vancouver cover by Siya Oum, limited to 200 copies. Both exclusive books will only be available at the Aspen Comics Booth.

The celebration of Aspen’s ten years in the industry continues with the all new Aspen Tour Print Anniversary Edition art print by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald, limited to 125 editions. In addition to the Aspen Tour Print, the publisher will also be offering an all new series of their industry leading prints, including the all new series Jirni.

The latter of Aspen’s two stops in Canada will be at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on April 26^th-28^th. The publisher will reveal more details about this appearance soon.

Aspen Heads to WonderCon!

Aspen Comics has released their WonderCon Anaheim 2013 exclusives as well as their list of creators appearing at the Aspen Comics Booth #701 on March 29-31st. Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro, Peter Steigerwald, Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, J.T. Krul, Beth Sotelo, Mike DeBalfo, Nei Ruffiino, David Wohl, Lori Hanson, and Jonathan Marks will all be appearing throughout the weekend at the Aspen Comics Booth.

Aspen is offering two highly-limited show exclusives: Legend of the Shadow Clan #3 will be released early at the show with a special Wondercon Anaheim exclusive cover by Mike DeBalfo and colored by Peter Steigerwald and limited to 200 copies. Aspen will also be releasing an Executive Assistant: Assassins #9 WonderCon cover by Giuseppe Cafaro and David Curiel, limited to 200 copies. Both exclusives will only be available at the Aspen Comics Booth #701.

To continue their ten-year anniversary celebration, Aspen is releasing the Aspen Tour Print 2013 WonderCon Anniversary Edition, with art by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald, limited to 125 editions. Aspen will also be releasing all new prints featuring Soulfire, The Legend of the Shadow Clan and Shrugged.

The “Ten Years of Aspen Comics” panel will take place on Saturday, March 30^th in room 208 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm and will feature all of Aspen’s creative talents as they answer fans’ questions and reveal what’s in store for the next ten years of Aspen Comics.

Aspen’s Shrugged #1 Covers Revealed

Aspen has announced that the second release in their ambitious “10 for 10” initiative, Shrugged #1, has ordered in excess of over 32,000 copies and will feature a large array of retailer exclusive covers personalized for each individual store.

Aspen Owner and President Frank Mastromauro was enthusiastic about the response, stating as a writer and co-creator of the series he “couldn’t be happier with the great response.”

The series has been on the company’s schedule for several years, and is back as part of Aspen’s ‘10 for 10’initiative which sees ten new series debut over 10 months. This latest volume was born with an idea Michael Turner had for the sequel to the first volume of the series.

Aspen is pricing each debut #1 “10 for 10” issue for the affordable price of only $1 and is also offering other incentives for each release such as original hand-drawn sketch covers, CGC editions, and special retailer incentive covers by popular artists J. Scott Campbell and Eric “Ebas” Basaldua.

Fans and new Aspen readers who add each of the “10 for 10” titles to their comic shop’s local subscription service will be eligible to receive the special Aspen Reserved Edition variant covers. Those fans who collect all ten Aspen Reserved Edition #1 covers will receive a free full-size Aspen “Perfect 10’s” Jam Poster featuring all ten “10 for 10” covers on one image colored by superstar colorist Peter Steigerwald. Aspen’s “10 for 10” Exclusives Continue with Shrugged #1

Aspen continues celebrating their tenth anniversary this March with the return of their popular series Shrugged. The series is their second release in the publisher’s “10 for 10” initiative. That initiative features ten new series releases over a span of ten months, Aspen will release Shrugged #1 on March 13^th, 2013 for just $1. From creators Michael Turner and Frank Mastromauro, and the art team of Jonathan Marks and Beth Sotelo, Shrugged marks the first returning Aspen property of 2013.

Aspen is also offering special incentives for stores based on their ordering levels.

Every fan or new reader who lets their local retailer know to add Shrugged #1 to their subscription box is eligible to receive the special “Aspen Reserved Edition” cover. Fans who collect all ten Aspen “10 for 10” #1 Reserved Edition covers at their local comic book store will then be eligible to receive the free Aspen “10 for 10” Jam Poster featuring characters from all ten titles and colored by superstar colorist Peter Steigerwald.
Any retailer who orders 50 copies of the dollar-priced Shrugged #1 will receive a signed and numbered copy of the direct cover edition, along with a certificate of authenticity.
Retailers who order 100 copies of the dollar-priced issue one will receive the above listed incentive as well as one free CCG 9.8 Reserved Edition cover of Shrugged #1.
For every 250 total combined copies of the standard and Reserved Edition covers ordered, retailers will receive all of the above listed incentives and one free original hand drawn Sketch Cover by Shrugged series artist Jonathan Marks.

Aspen Comics Brings Back Shrugged for “10 for 10”

As their second release in their tenth anniversary “10 for 10” initiative, Aspen Comics is returning to the world of Perspecta and their popular series Shrugged. Created by Michael Turner and Frank Mastromauro, Shrugged will feature a mix of both a returning and brand new art team.

According to the creator and writer Mastromauro the new volume has been a “long time coming” and he could be happier to be working on the series again.

When we created this series almost eight years ago, Michael [Turner] always had an idea for where he wanted the story to go after the first volume was completed. I’ve kept that idea in mind ever since for when we were able to get the series scheduled back into production and back into stores for the fans and readers. Now that Aspen’s ten year anniversary is here, I’m thrilled to have Shrugged return as a part of that celebration, and I’m looking forward to bringing Michael’s incredible vision to everyone to the best of my ability.

This newest volume of Shrugged will be written by Mastromauro and will pair up-and-coming Aspen newcomer Jonathan Marks with returning, veteran colorist Beth Sotelo. Volume one artist Micah Gunnell will also return to provide a special lead-in to the new art team for this new volume.

As with all of Aspen’s “10 for 10” releases, the publisher will be offering a host of incentives for retailers and fans alike, including the extremely affordable price of only $1 for the first issue, Shrugged #1.
