Oni Celebrates 20 Years at Rose City Comic Con 2018 this September

Oni Press is turning 20! Join them, sponsors of Rose City Comic Con 2018, on September 7th at 8pm, at the Mission Theater (1624 NW Glisan St, Portland, OR 97209) to party down. There will be exclusive Oni Press merch available in addition to McMenamins catered food, a cash bar, and dancing with music by Portland’s famed DJs, Strange Babes. Take photos at their GIF booth and meet and hang out with their creators, staff, friends, and family.

This event with Rose City Comic Con closes their year-long celebration. Last October they announced their transition to Simon & Schuster as their new book distributor, and this year donated to such charities as the True Colors Fund and the Hemophilia Foundation of Oregon. Additionally, Oni created a brand-new 20th anniversary logo that adorned all of their single issues. Along the way, they also welcomed their new Director of Sales, Margot Wood from Epic Reads, Marketing Design Manager, Sandy Tanaka, from Dark Horse, and Sarah Gaydos from IDW as their new Editorial Director of Licensed Publishing.

Image Comics Announces Bitter Root at Rose City Comic Con

Image Comics announced at this year’s Rose City Comic Con an all-new ongoing series from David Walker, Chuck Brown, and Sanford Greene that will launch in 2018 titled, Bitter Root.

Bitter Root is set in 1920s with the Harlem Renaissance in full swing. The new series will follow the Sangerye Family—New York (and the world’s) only hope for salvation from supernatural forces threatening doom and destruction. Once the greatest family of monster hunters in the world, the Sangeryes must move beyond the tragedies of the past, or be forced to sit back and watch an unimaginable evil ravage the human race.

Mike Mignola, Dave Stewart and Dark Horse Comics Announce A Hellboy Limited Edition Fundraiser To Support The Houston Food Bank

Legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Eisner Award-winning colorist Dave Stewart, and Dark Horse Comics are releasing a limited edition Hellboy print at Rose City Comic Con, with all proceeds going to the Houston Food Bank in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The 11” x 17” print features an illustration of Hellboy by Mignola colored by Stewart. 500 numbered prints, retailing for $20.00, will be available at Rose City Comic Con, September 8-10 in Portland, OR.

About Image Comics Homecoming Dance:
Back by popular demand, Image Comics is pleased to host a very special formal Fall Homecoming dance for the comics community during the Rose City Comic Con festivities. The dance will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 8:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. at The Evergreen. This event will be 21+ only. IDs will be checked at the door.

Tickets to the Image Comics Fall Homecoming Dance are on sale now. Image Comics’ Fall Homecoming will be in the style and spirit of a traditional high school dance and all comics fans and industry members are encouraged to come mix, mingle, and dance the night away.
