Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day is February 2

kids1821 Comics, comic legend Stan Lee and his company POW! Entertainment are teaming up for Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day, an event in Los Angeles on February 2 for kids celebrating the first properties from 1821 Comics, Stan Lee and POW!’s new family-friendly publishing imprint Stan Lee’s Kids Universe which include Digital E-Books, books and games for multiple platforms. The children participating in Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day will get an exclusive sneak preview of the new line of family friendly properties and will engage in a variety of fun activities.

Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Giggles N’ Hugs in Century City, and will include invited children and their parents.

Stan Lee’s Kids Universe Day is scheduled to feature the following activities*:

  • A book reading session for the kids with Stan Lee, where he will be giving out signed copies of books from the new imprint.
  • Lunch and games with characters from the Stan Lee’s Kids Universe.
  • Playtime with rescued animals.
  • Arts and craft sessions for the kids.

Beverly Hills, Calif.(May 2012) – Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo Presented by POW! Entertainment, the largest multimedia pop culture, comic book, horror and gaming convention in Los Angeles, has set the date for its 2nd annual show at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

After rebranding and joining forces with Stan Lee and Pow! Entertainment, Comikaze Expo has brought in a great new partner- Cassandra Peterson, best known for her character, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.

Like Stan Lee, Cassandra Peterson was a Guest of Honor at 2011’s inaugural Comikaze Expo. Impressed by Comikaze’s success (as well as Stan Lee’s role), Peterson wanted to be involved. The Elvira creator is taking a very active role in the planning of the largest pop-culture expo in Los Angeles.

Peterson and Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo plan on creating interactive content unlike any other convention.
“I’m thrilled to join forces with the great Stan Lee in becoming a part of Comikaze Expo! Finally, a first class pop culture convention in my hometown of Los Angeles! ” says Peterson. Stan Lee’s Comikaze CEO Regina Carpinelli stated, “Elvira is part of our pop culture history. Not only is Cassandra Peterson a pretty face, but she is also brings so much to the table. She’s one of the most brilliant businesswomen of our time, and has some fantastic ideas. I am so proud to call her our Partner. I like to think of her as Mistress of the Board” Peterson, who retired from appearing at Conventions as Elvira. Will be dressing as her famous character for Stan Lee’s Comikaze.  “Stan Lee’s Comikaze, is the only convention in North America where you can get a photo or meet with Elvira. How cool is that?” says  Carpinelli.

Peterson and the Stan Lee’s Comikaze team are launching an interactive webseries/film festival for the show taking place September 15-16th. Elvira and Peaches Christ’s Horror Hunt will be akin to American Idol-and Mystery Science Theater 3000.  Aspiring and amateur filmmakers will submit their videos to Comikaze. A team of judges will evaluate them, and the top 10 will be picked-or panned by Elvira and her co-host, Peaches Christ on the hilarious new web series, Horror Hunt.  A final winner will be chosen and flown out to LA. The winner will also receive a red carpet premier at the historic Vista Theater, as well as an official screening at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo. They will also be featured as a guest at Comikaze.

Elvira and Peaches Christ’s Horror Hunt will revolutionize the way film festivals are seen.

In conjunction with Horror Hunt,  Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo has also launched The Search for the Next SuperHero and Villainous Villain, an art contest promoting creativity and budding artists. They have also announced a  partnership with Star City Games, Americas largest Magic The Gathering tournament company. Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo will hold a Magic The Gathering tournament, with over $20,000 in cash prizes. Renowned comic creator, Todd McFarlane has also been announced as a Guest of Honor. The Spawn creator will be signing books and taking part in select programming. As well as My Little Pony:  Friendship is Magic voice  actress Tara Strong.

Entertainment, today announced that he will make a special appearance at Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, January 28-29, 2012, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  Lee, a member of both the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame, will be on site on Saturday, Jan. 28 to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs.  Special VIP packages will be available.

Entertainment Gill Champion announced today that they are teaming up to launch a new family-friendly multi-platform imprint called STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE. With the announcement, STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE will release a series of new books, characters, and interactive games—all created for children.

The announcements were made during a special presentation at New York Comic Con where Dougas and Lee unveiled a sneak peak at the company’s slate of first five books. Lee and Dougas showcased a number of giant posters and images from the new imprint for fans and media. Lee and Dougas also revealed plans for STAN LEE SAVES THE WORLD a new interactive game that they are co-producing with Cosmic Ray Gun Creative Design Studio for the iPad/iPhone platforms. This marks the first in a series of games that they will be releasing under the STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE banner. STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE will release its first two books in spring 2012, both projects are from acclaimed illustrator, writer, and comic creator Dani Jones, and are titled MONSTERS VS. KITTENS and ONCE UPON A TIME.

Dani Jones’ MONSTERS VS. KITTENS tells the story of a giant monster and a tiny kitten who are best friends. Her second book ONCE UPON A TIME tells the tale of a little pig who wants to tell a story but keeps getting interrupted by a cast of eclectic animals.

During the presentation Lee and Dougas also showcased characters from three additional books that STAN LEE’S KIDS UNIVERSE is currently developing in association with Viper Comics and their founder Jessie Garza:

•             “The Fuzz Posse,” a group of mischievous police dogs featuring an evil porcupine villain

•             An untitled book based on an assorted animal rock band with a cool cast that includes a rooster, a parrot, a hippo, a rabbit, a pig and a monkey

•             “Reggie The Veggie Crocodile,” a crocodile who loves vegetables and encourages kids to eat a well balanced diet

Commented Stan Lee:  “Our main purpose is we feel that there aren’t enough comic books or books for kids that really hit the target, that gives them excitement and humor together and are filled with surprises. We have a whole new group of new characters that the kids can call their own, just as the teenagers called Spider-Man their own so many years ago.”

It’s also official that the graphic novel will be available in both a large soft cover edition ($19.99) and a special collector’s hardbound edition ($29.99). The breathtaking book will be printed in a landscape format of 10″ x 13″, allowing for some amazing images to flow off the page. It will be available on November 30th, just in time for the holiday season.

The graphic novel is based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and was reimagined by Stan Lee and Terry Dougas. The book was written by Max Work and all artwork from cover to interior pages was illustrated by Skan Srisuwan and Studio Hive.

1821 Comics is also running a Stan Lee Autograph Social Media Contest. May 23, 2011 – Los Angeles, CA – BOOM! Studios, one of the top publishers of graphic novels and comic books, announced today the immediate availability of the new free Stan Lee BOOM! Comics App for iOS mobile devices! The app will showcase the digital versions of legendary comics creator Stan Lee’s superhero comic series, SOLDIER ZERO, THE TRAVELER, and STARBORN. In addition, the titles can be downloaded for iOS through the BOOM! Studios Comics App.

Fans can also download these series through all major digital comics vendors, including ComiXology, Graphic.ly, iVerse, and MyDigitialComics, for desktop (Windows, MacOS) and mobile (iOS, Android) platforms. SOLDIER ZERO, THE TRAVELER, and STARBORN debuted last fall from one of the comic book industries greatest creators, Stan Lee, in association with his company, POW! Entertainment!

Today’s announcement marks a major foray into the digital comics space by Stan Lee. Lee is a National Medal of Arts Award winner and created the superhero mainstays that populate the House of Ideas, Marvel Comics, including SPIDER-MAN, IRON MAN, THE X-MEN, THE HULK, DR.
