One of the most highly anticipated Marvel movies to date, Guardians of the Galaxy, is in movie theaters now, and response has been so great that a sequel is already in the works for 2017! The newest series of Marvel Minimates based on the film is getting a great response as well, and it is currently available in Toys “R” Us stores, with an exclusive Minimate not available anywhere else!

SDCC 2014: X-Men: Days of Future Past Minimates Box Set Gets New Photos!

At this week’s San Diego Comic-Con, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum will release their Marvel Minimates box set based on the classic X-Men comic storyline, Days of Future Past. Published in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142, the story showed a grim future where mutants were second-class citizens that had been largely exterminated by giant Sentinels, and it became one of the touchstones of the X-Men mythos.

The 4-pack of Minimates captures some of the storyline’s most important characters Future Wolverine, Future Kitty Pryde, Mystique and a Future Sentinel. Each stands approximately 2 inches tall with a variety of interchangeable parts and accessories, and we’ve taken some photos to show off all those parts! Check out the photos in the gallery, then come to booth 2607 on the show floor to pick up a set for $20, or check with your local retailer to see if they can order it in for you!

SDCC 2014: Diamond Select Toys Turns San Diego Eatery into the DST Lounge!

San Diego Comic-Con is an experience, to be sure, but sometimes you just need to get out of the convention center! San Diego’s nearby Gaslamp District offers a variety of options for fun, food and drink, and Diamond Select Toys has always had their favorite for all three: Taste and Thirst on 4th. So this year, DST is taking it over and turning it into the DST Lounge from July 24-26!

The home of some great food, a wide selection of drinks and the best chicken wings in town, all in a casual atmosphere, Taste & Thirst will be decorated with DST products and artwork during Comic-Con, turning it into a celebration of the stories and characters that Comic-Con attendees love, including Star Trek, Star Wars, Sin City, Godzilla, Ghostbusters, TMNT and Marvel Comics! Coupons for food and drink discounts will be given out at the Diamond Select booth (#2607) on the convention floor, so you can take the short walk up 4th for lunch or dinner, or stop by after the convention for drinks in the bar!

The lounge will celebrate its grand opening with a kickoff party starting at 10PM on Thursday night, July 24, open to anyone ages 21 and older. The DST staff will be in attendance, so look for the DST staff shirts if you’re hoping to rub elbows with the guys who get their products from the drawing board to store shelves. Plus, illusionist Nick Ivory will perform until 10:45, so be sure to catch some of his amazing slight-of-hand! After that, the Lounge will be open from 11AM-2AM on Friday and 9AM-2AM on Saturday. Taste and Thirst on Fourth is located at 715 4th Ave. in San Diego.

SDCC 2014: Bluntman & Chronic Minimates Return to their Comic-Book Roots

Look, up in the sky, it’s Bluntman and Chronic! The comic-book heroes created by director Kevin Smith are living the high life, with a variety of products coming out from Diamond Select Toys based on their appearances in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Now, they’re getting a Comic-Con-exclusive 2-pack of Minimates mini-figures, only available through Toys “R” Us, and it’s based on their comic book appearances!

With new facial expressions and paint schemes that reflect the costumes worn in their now-classic comic book mini-series, Bluntman and Chronic each stand 2 inches tall with 14 points of articulation and a variety of interchangeable parts. The two-pack comes packaged on a blister card, and will be available through the Entertainment Earth booth, #2343, at a price of $10.
