We got an early look at some of John Tiffany and we can’t wait to read the whole graphic novel!

John Tiffany is one of the best bounty hunters in the world: A ten year career and fifteen million dollars worth of bounties! Tiffany certainly looks the part of a cool hit-man for hire—but he’s not quite the stereotype we’ve come to expect in modern fiction. He’s a bit more human and very, very flawed.

We catch up with Tiffany in Mexico City, when he realizes the tables have turned and a price has been placed on his head. To make matters worse, his rivals know his location, which means that he was betrayed by one of the four people he thought he could trust…

John Tiffany Vol. 1 is collected and updated and out in the US for the first time in July!

Blue Beetle launches in September with “Scarab War”

Just in time for the DC Super Hero’s big screen feature film debut, a new “Dawn of DC” Blue Beetle ongoing series will launch out of the final issue of writer Josh Trujillo and artists Adrian Gutiérrez, Wil Quintana, and Lucas Gattoni’s Blue Beetle: Graduation Day six-issue mini-series! The first story arc of Blue Beetle, due to hit comic shops in September, will be titled “Scarab War” and will team Trujillo back up with artists Gutiérrez, Quintana, and Gattoni.

Jaime Reyes’ graduation is over, but his new life in Palmera City and as the Blue Beetle has only just begun! With two new beetles to train in Dynastes and Nitida, Jaime has his hands full navigating being a leader. Thankfully, he has Paco and Brenda by his side as they settle in at Palmera State University. But what lurks in the shadows of Blue Beetle’s new home and what does it mean for the Blue Beetle legacy?

Blue Beetle: Graduation Day (ISBN 9781779523242), collecting issues #1-6 of this action-packed DC comic book mini-series, is available for pre-order now and will hit shelves wherever books are sold on August 1. A Spanish-language edition, Blue Beetle: Día de Graduación (ISBN 9781779524256), will publish simultaneously with the English-language edition.

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow #1 is a fun start to Conner’s quest

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow #1

After the events of Dark Crisis, Conner feels out of place with the rest of the hero community. He doesn’t fit in with the rest of the Superman Family, and the rest of the world doesn’t really need him with so many Supers in Metropolis. He doesn’t want to rely on Tim, Cassie, and Bart, so Conner looks to the stars as a place he might be able to call his own and carve out his own path. But what lurks in the great unknown? Are bravado and swagger enough to help Superboy find his new calling? Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow #1 kicks off a solo series for the popular character and delivers a fun start.

I remember when Conner debuted many years ago but the character’s journey over the years isn’t one I followed. The ups. The downs. It’s all specifics that for me don’t seem to matter with this debut. Writer Kenny Porter keeps Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow #1 pretty simple and focused. With so many in the Superman family in Metropolis, how does Conner stand out? What’s a superhero to do when there’s other superheroes who take care of things? As I said, a simple idea that’s done well.

Where Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow #1 does really well is Conner’s attitude. Porter is able to create a character who is a little bit arrogant and a little bit full of himself but he never crosses a line to the point he’s unlikeable due to any of that. He’s a kid basically and full of all of the self assured aspects that brings. And the story plays into that as well with Conner being a bit overwhelmed in the situation he goes into.

The attitude of the comic bleeds over into the art by Jahnoy Lindsay. The look of the comic pops with a style that fits the enthusiasm of the main character. With color by Lindsay and lettering by Lucas Gattoni, the comic’s look matches its fun style and attitude of Conner. It also still feels like it fits with other Superman comics, not standing out too much. There’s a youthful energy about that art that’s fantastic and helps make the comic an enjoyable read.

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow #1 is a good start. While it doesn’t totally blow me away, it’s a fun time and left me wanting to see what happens next. Overall, this may play better with Conner fans but for those new to the character it does an excellent job of catching readers up and setting him along his adventure.

Hitman Turned Drag Queen Searches For Her Missing Drag Sister In Death Drop Drag Assassin!

A slew of mysterious disappearances sweeps across the city’s queer districts. The police are unconcerned, and, well, it’s nothing the queer community hasn’t seen again and again. Even for Death Drop, it doesn’t hit home until her drag sister, Lunaira Sun, goes missing.

At the insistence of Mother Henny, her drag mother, Death Drop uses her assassin skills to pick up the scent of the wayward Lunaira. What she finds is a trail of supernaturally disfigured corpses, a leather-clad killer hell-bent on revenge, and an enigmatic queen from Mother Henny’s past. To make matters worse, she can’t shake the feeling that the specter of the assassin mentor she exposed and left for dead years ago is now haunting her every step.

The search for a connection between these seemingly disparate threads will take Death Drop from Mother Henny’s club, Posterior Delusions, through the streets and back-alleys of the gayborhood, to the world beyond. As her past and present collide in a deadly confrontation, Death Drop will be forced to grapple with the idea that escaping from your past and overcoming it are two very different things…

Death Drop Drag Assassin is from writer David Hazan, artist Alex Moore, letterer Lucas Gattoni, and being published by Scout Comics.

A Blue-Collar Angel Accountant Investigates A Series Of Unexplained Wonders In Miracle Kingdom

Have you ever prayed for something stupid and meaningless, like finding a parking space or getting to work on time?  Or have you ever made a heartfelt plea for a miracle or something life changing?  What if I told you every word is not only heard, but also tallied, approved and debited by an accountant in Heaven?  Welcome to the Department of Divine Intervention, where the outcome of the universe is just another day in the office.  From the mailroom where incoming prayers are sorted, to the courtrooms where the merits of miracles are tirelessly debated – it’s all a perfectly woven system, or at least it’s supposed to be.

In the realm of televised faith healing, nothing makes a televangelist break into nervous sweat quite like a well-meaning accountant ready to audit the church books.  In fact, such a prospect could darn-near scare the red out of the devil!

Meet Lester Benny.  Outrageous on-air personality.  Impassioned pastor.  And to his flock, a savior with a divine gift to cure any disease or curb any ailment.  Assuming, of course, the applicable “charitable” donation has been generously met.

Enter Winston Donovan, a quiet, enigmatic bean counter with a flair for the vintage and little tolerance for chicanery.  When a desperate mother urges Winston to rescue her son from a cultish church, Winston accepts the case and sets off on a mission to expose Lester Benny as a two-bit charlatan.

Oh, but do take care when pulling at threads.  Some answers were hidden by design.  And meant to stay that way.

Miracle Kingdom is written by Michael David McCarthy, featuring art by Alonso Molina Gonzales, colors by Ichsan Ansori, and lettering by Lucas Gattoni. It features a variant cover by Gioele Filippo, logo design by Matt Heald, and edited by Andrea Lorenzo Molinari. Coming soon from Scout Comics.

Get a Sneak Peek at DC Pride 2022

DC Pride 2022’s storytellers have ambitious goals: to deliver new stories, highlight DC’s fan-favorite LGBTQIA+ characters, and show fans more pride than ever before. DC has released more details about DC Pride 2022, including an excerpt from Nicole Maines’ introduction, the addition of Kevin Conroy (the iconic voice of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series), J. Bone and Aditya Bidikar to an already packed roster of talent, a first look at some of the artwork coming in from the creative teams, and more. Local comic shops are taking preorders through May 1 and the 104-page Prestige format comic will publish in print and on digital platforms on May 31.

So, what’s inside DC Pride 2022? Will there be a Harley and Ivy story? Will there be a Tim Drake story? What other characters are getting a spotlight? The answers are “yes, yes, and wait and see!” but before DC reveals of the full list of talent contributing to DC Pride 2022, please take a moment to read a passage from Nicole Maines’ introduction. The author, actress and real-life superhero is on the front lines of activism and has an important message for readers:

“Representation is something that so many take for granted. But as queer people, we have always understood not only its necessity, but its power. Seeing yourself in the media you consume is validating in a way that says, “You are not alone.”

Seeing yourself in comic books, though, in your favorite superheroes, is especially powerful. It tells us that not only are there other people like us out there (something that this young trans girl growing up in rural Maine desperately needed), but that they stand alongside the very best of us.

They are the best of us.

Superheroes set the bar and they set it high. Because if you can be a superhero, you can be anything. And superheroes are categorized as such not due to their superhuman abilities, extraterrestrial origins, or truly fabulous fashion choices. They are superheroes because they stand up for what is right against any odds.

It is their courage that sets them apart.” —Nicole Maines, DC Pride 2022
