Venture into a haunted comic book shop for tales of terror with Shock Shop!

Cullen Bunn, Danny Luckert, and Leila Leiz present Shock Shop! Shock Shop is a brand-new horror anthology flip comic that takes place in a haunted comic book shop, featuring a twisted retailer filled with tales of terror. Readers will encounter two scary stories told across four comic issues. Each issue will feature variant covers by a host of horrifyingly talented artists, including Francesco Francavilla, Fábio Moon, Caitlin Yarsky, James Stokoe, James Harren, and Tonci Zonjic. 

In FAMILIARS: After a painful divorce and custody battle, Trevor rents a house and tries to rebuild his life. Soon, he discovers that his house appears to be “haunted” by more than one spirit: the minions of a long-dead coven of witches. When the creatures begin feeding on Trevor’s feelings of anger and guilt, they lash out at those who draw his ire, whether he wants them to or not.

In SOMETHING IN THE WOODS, IN THE DARK: A husband and wife who are going through a tough time go on a camping trip with a few friends into the deep woods. As they trek further into the forest, they realize that they are being stalked. Something in the woods starts killing the campers–a hideous, inhuman thing that may have more ties to the campers than any of them realize.

Shock Shop #1 will be available at comic stores September 7, 2022 and is available for pre-order at your local comic shop, with a retail price of $3.99.

Skybound has debuted a new trailer for Skybound Presents Afterschool, the upcoming teen horror anthology miniseries that goes the extra mile to tell the cautionary tales your parents were too scared to talk about.

The new trailer grants a sneak peek into the world of Afterschool, where morals have eroded, and the kids are out of control. Someone’s got to teach them a lesson. Beginning with Nora, who’s got a new best friend with a killer secret…and no one is going to tear them apart. Afterschool presents four standalone comics, four different stories, and one simple truth: the good die young, but the bad die better. 

Each standalone Afterschool special features its own team of acclaimed writers and all-star artists from comics, television and beyond, including Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead and Greg Hinkle; Kate Herron & Briony Redman alongside Leila Leiz; Jill Blotevogel with Marley Zarcone; and Leon Hendrix III to give each issue a distinct horrifying feel, with its own relatable characters and truly chilling lessons.

Image Comics and Skybound have announced Skybound Presents Afterschool, a new miniseries debuting in June that takes the familiar cautionary tales we’ve all learned in our youths and flips them on their (severed) heads.

Image Comics has revealed a trio of highly collectible covers for the forthcoming M.O.M.: Mother of Madness #3 by multiple Emmy award nominated actress Emilia Clarke, GLAAD Media Award nominated Marguerite Bennett, and Leila Leiz. This #3 issue will conclude the miniseries with variant covers showcasing artwork by Jo Ratcliffe, Emi Lenox, and Caitlin Yarsky.

The Last Book You’ll Ever Read #1 Sells Out and Rushed Back to Print

The first issue of Vault‘s new horror series, The Last Book You’ll Ever Read, has sparked a fire among readers. So much so that the first issue has completely sold out at the distributor on the day of release. The issue is being rushed back to print with a new cover that will be announced soon. The second printing will go on sale on September 1st, the same day as issue #2.

The Last Book You’ll Ever Read is written by Cullen Bunn, drawn by Leila Leiz, colored by Giada Marchisio, lettered by Jim Campbell, and designed by Tim Daniel. The sold-out first printing of issue #1 went on sale July 28th, 2021.

Image Comics is pleased to announce a line of highly collectible, rare covers for the forthcoming M.O.M.: Mother of Madness by multiple Emmy award-nominated actress Emilia Clarke, GLAAD Media Award-nominated Marguerite Bennett, and Leila Leiz on shelves this July.

These exciting variants will feature art from Jo Ratcliffe, Jen Bartel, Leila Leiz, and Mirka Andolfo as well as a unique cover summarizing the series’ concept drawn by Leiz and a blank sketch cover.

Emilia Clark, Marguerite Bennet, and Leila Leiz Launch M.O.M.: Mothers of Madness in July

Multiple Emmy award-nominated actress Emilia Clarke will debut her first comic book series — the forthcoming M.O.M.: Mother of Madness—at Image Comics this July. This new, three-issue superhero series will be co-written by the GLAAD Media Award-nominated Marguerite Bennett with art by Leila Leiz.

In M.O.M.: Mother of Madness, the mayhem begins with Maya, under-the-weather scientist by day, over-the-top superhero by night, and badass single mom 24/7.

Deadpool action collides with Fleabag comedy when Maya activates her freakish superpowers to take on a secret sect of human traffickers. Each installment of the series will be an extra-length issue filled to the brim with comedy and chaos.

M.O.M.: Mother of Madness #1 will showcase a cover A by Jo Ratcliffe, a renowned artist whose work has been featured by a number of globally recognized brands and magazines including the likes of Vogue UK and Juxtapoz. 

The Cover B for this first issue will be provided by Eisner award-winning Jen Bartel, whose clients have included such global brands as Netflix, MONDO, Adidas, LucasFilms, and more.

AfterShock Sends Out an S.O.S. with Support Our Shops

Comic shops have been seeing added pressure, challenges, and obstacles over the past three months with COVID-19 and a downturn economy. Publisher AfterShock Comics, has announced the release of Support Our Shops (S.O.S.), a 48-page comic featuring seven stories from top creators, to be distributed at no cost to comic shops through Diamond Comic Distributors. 

S.O.S.features from some of the industry’s most celebrated creators emphasizing that fundamentally irreplaceable role played by comic shops in their lives and in the lives of fans. The title includes exclusive stories from Cullen Bunn, Stephanie Phillips, Zac Thompson, Steve Orlando, Jamie McKelvie, Jerry Ordway, and Aaron Douglas, with art from Leila Leiz, Don Kramer, Szymon Kudranski, Ro Stein, and Ted Brandt, Gordon Purcell and Cliff Richards, with cover conceived and executed by David Mack.

S.O.S. will be distributed to Diamond’s top-ranked 200 AfterShock accounts, which will each receive 20 free copies (per storefront) with their 6/24 on-sale books. The next 300 highest ranked stores will each receive 10 free copies. Stores not included in this ranking may receive a number of copies upon request or through their AfterShock Ambassador.

AfterShock’s S.O.S. was created so that each comic shop can leverage the title to best suit their individual needs and goals. It can be given away free, used as a purchase incentive, put into the pull boxes of AfterShock readers, or sold directly to consumers at a suggested price to help recoup losses that may have been sustained through pandemic-related closures and events.
