Wicked improved an impressive 37.4% in its sixth week to gross $19.5 million domestically bringing its total to $424.2 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $22.7 million over the week to lift that total to $210.1 million. The movie has grossed $634.4 million worldwide.

Over the week, it grossed $56.8 million internationally which is now $487.9 million total. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $882.5 million.

In comic film news…

Kraven the Hunter tumbled further dropping 44.3% to gross $1.7 million. Domestically, the movie has grossed just $21.4 million. Internationally, it did a little better grossing $5.8 million over the week to bring that to $31.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just $52.6 million after three weeks. It’s possible this film will do worse than both Morbius and Madame Web.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim dropped a further 63.2% in its third week grossing $455,000 domestically to bring that to $8.6 million. Over the week, the film remained at just under $8 million internationally. The movie has grossed just $16.5 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 runs all over Mufasa: The Lion King while Kraven The Hunter tanks

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 had a solid debut weekend. The film opened with $62 million domestically and $1.4 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $63.4 million. The first film opened in 2020 with a little over $58 million domestically going on to gross $319.7 million worldwide while the sequel opened with $72.1 million in 2022 and went on to gross $405.4 million. It’s clear this franchise has a fandom that can be relied on.

Mufasa: The Lion King… can we make murdered jokes? The film’s opening was a bump in Disney’s uneven year grossing just $35 million domestically. Internationally, it did much better with $87.2 million for a worldwide debut of $122.2 million. It’s possible the film was hurt with another “kid’s” movie opening and the international gross hints at that. We’ll see if this film has legs over the holiday weekend.

Wicked slipped just one spot to come in third with $13.5 million domestically to bring it to $383.9 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $21.5 million over the week to bring that to $187.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $571.3 million.

Moana 2 dropped in its fourth week going from first to fourth adding $13.1 million domestically to bring that to $359.1 million. Over the week, the movie grossed $50.6 million over the week and now stands at $431.1 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $790.2 million.

Homestead debuted in fifth with $6.1 million domestically.

In comic film news…

Kraven the Hunter tanked in its second weekend dropping 71.8% to gross $3.1 million. Domestically, the movie has grossed just $17.4 million. Internationally, it did a little better grossing $10.4 million over the week to bring that to $25.4 million. Worldwide, the movie as grossed just $42.8 million after two weeks. It’s possible this film will do worse than both Morbius and Madame Web.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim dropped an impressive 72.1% in its second week grossing $1.3 million domestically to bring that to $7.4 million. Over the week, the film grossed just $2.3 million internationally to bring that to $8 million. The movie has grossed just $15.4 million.

Venom: The Last Dance added $140,000 to its domestic total which is now $139.6 million. Internationally, it grossed $2.1 million to bring that to $335.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $475.4 million.

Solo Leveling: Reawakening remained at $3.4 million domestically. Internationally, it added about $670,000 over the week and has now grossed a little over $2.7 million for a worldwide total of a little over $6 million.

Transformers One remained at $59.1 million domestically. It also remained at $70.3 million internationally. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $129.4 million. With a budget between $75-147 million, the film’s success will be debated and will rely heavily on toy sales to truly determine.

Deadpool & Wolverine remained at $636.7 million domestically. Internationally, the movie is still at $701.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.338 billion.

The week’s overall box office success…

Numbers have 53 films earning $142,012,509 from 29,326 theaters. That’s a solid increase from the previous weekend’s $93,826,001 from 33,117 theaters and 65 films. The average earning was $4,842.55 which is a big bump from the previous weekend’s $2,833.17.

Moana 2 and Wicked repeats in 1 and 2 while Kraven the Hunter doesn’t find its prize and The War of Rohirrim is a military disaster

Moana 2

The top two spots for the weekend box office wasn’t much of a surprise. Moana 2 took the top spot again in its third week. The movie added $26.6 million to its domestic total which is now $337.5 million. Over the week, the film added $79.5 million to its international total which is now $379.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $717 million after just three weeks. The first film grossed $643,332,467 worldwide in 2016 which is about $845.7 million in today’s dollars. It’s likely the sequel will gross that and beyond by the time things are done.

Wicked came in second place with $22.5 million to bring to lift the film to a little over $359 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $30.9 million over the week to bring that to $165.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $525 million.

Kraven the Hunter debuted in third place with a rough $11 million domestically and $15 million internationally. It’s the third misfired in Sony’s attempt to expand the “Spider-verse” even further. Morbius debuted in 2022 with $39 million domestically and went on to gross $167.5 million worldwide. Madame Web debuted earlier this year with $15.3 million domestically and went on to gross $100.5 million. Will Kraven the Hunter even break $100 million worldwide?

Gladiator II slipped one spot to come in fourth with $7.8 million in its fourth week. Domestically, the movie has grossed $145.9 million. Over the week, it added $16.9 million internationally to bring that to $252.6 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $398.5 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim which debuted with just $4.6 million domestically and $5.7 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $10.3 million. It’s a hell of a fall for the franchise which dominated with its live action films. Did the animation kill it? The lack of starpower?

In comic film news…

Venom: The Last Dance added $235,153 to its domestic total which is now $139.5 million. Internationally, it grossed $3.4 million to bring that to $333.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $472.8 million.

Solo Leveling: Reawakening added around $9000,000 to its total over the week. It has now grossed $3.4 million domestically. Internationally, it added about $300,000 over the week and has now grossed a little over $2 million for a worldwide total of $5.4 million.

Numbers have 65 films earning $93,826,001 from 33,117 theaters. That’s a decrease from the previous weekend’s $137,230,815 from 30,297 theaters and 65 films. The average earning was $2,833.17 which is a big bump from the previous weekend’s $4,529.52.
