The Folio Society To Publish DC: Superman, Presenting a Dozen of the Greatest Superman Comics of All Time, Curated and Selected by Former DC Comics President Jennette Kahn

DC: Superman

The Folio Society will celebrate the legacy of the Man of Steel with the publication of DC: Superman, a collectible compilation featuring twelve seminal comics by a host of iconic writers and artists, including Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Curt Swan, Marshall Rogers, Alan Moore, John Byrne, Dan Jurgens, Paul Dini, and Alex Ross. These classic stories — all selected and introduced by Jenette Kahn, the former DC President, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of DC, and published in collaboration with DC — form a collection of the best and most significant Superman stories from the 20th century.

Along with the 312-page one-of-a-kind deluxe book, DC: Superman comes with a stand-alone replica copy of Superman #1, one of the most valuable comics in the world, scanned from an original copy held in the DC Archives. DC: Superman also features a rarely seen letter written by Jerry Siegel in 1934, detailing the original character ideas for Superman four years before the character first appeared in Action Comics’ historic debut issue, as well as all-new foreword by Marjorie Liu, the Eisner Award-winning writer of Monstress and The Night Eaters. As Liu writes in her personal essay, “If there is one superhero who will remain immortal, passed down from generation to generation, it will be Superman.”

DC: Superman includes:

The fist 12 issues of Fantastic Four and the X-Men’s Dark Phoenix Saga get Facsimile Editions in 2025

In 2025, fans will be able to collect new printings of some of the most influential comic book stories ever told: Fantastic Four #1-12 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and X-Men #131-142 by Chris Claremont and John Byrne.

Timed to the release of Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps film, in theaters on July 25, these Facsimile Editions of the first 12 issues of Fantastic Four give readers a chance to experience the book that started it all! And X-Men #131-142 covers two essential X-Men milestones: The Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past! These all-time great Marvel Comic books will be boldly re-presented in its original form, ads and all. The Fantastic Four Facsimile Editions will also be available with stunning Foil Variant Covers.

It all begins in January with Fantastic Four #1 Facsimile Edition and X-MEN #131 Facsimile Edition.

In Fantastic Four #1, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby changed super-hero storytelling forever when they introduced Reed Richards, Ben Grimm and Susan and Johnny Storm. Together, the adventurous quartet blast off on an experimental rocket flight – only to be bombarded by life-altering cosmic rays! Reed becomes the elastic Mister Fantastic! Ben transforms into the rocky Thing! Sue turns into an Invisible Girl! And Johnny flames on as the Human Torch! They’ll use their incredible powers to help humankind – starting by fending off the menace of the Mole Man! It’s the next best thing to buying Fantastic Four #1 off the stands back in 1961!

In X-Men #131, Kitty Pryde meets more of the X-Men in a vital chapter of the Dark Phoenix Saga! When Cyclops, Phoenix, Nightcrawler and the mutant pop star Dazzler save a young girl as she flees her pursuers from the Hellfire Club, little do they know she’s destined to become one of the most iconic X-Men of all! But with Storm, Colossus and Wolverine still prisoners of the White Queen, the young Kitty Pryde must lead her new allies back into the lion’s den to come to their rescue. Can Emma Frost withstand a psychic battle with an increasingly ruthless Jean Grey? And will Dazzler accept an offer to join the X-Men? Following the Dark Phoenix Saga, next year’s X-Men Facsimile Editions will also cover another pivotal X-Men saga: Days of Future Past!

Weapon X, Maverick, Sunspot, and Warlock are coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol

Atomic Mass Games has revealed two new releases for Marvel: Crisis Protocol, the miniature tabletop wargame. The first set features Weapon X and Maverick while the second features Sunspot and Warlock. Both sets are slated to be released September 13.

The Weapon X and Maverick character pack sees the Weapon X program coming to the game. The set features a new take on Wolverine as well as the debut of Maverick. Other notable Weapon X alumnus already in the game include Wolverine, Sabretooth, Deadpool, X-23, and a few others we can debate about. The Sunspot and Warlock character set is the debut of both characters in the game and gives us a hope for a New Mutants faction. The set features both characters’ miniatures, 2 character stat cards, 5 team tactic cards, and 1 token sheet. Other members of the New Mutants already in the game includes Magick. It’ll retail for $39.99.

Sunspot debuted in Marvel Graphic Novel #4: The New Mutants in 1982 and was created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod. Warlock was created by Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz and debuted in 1984 in The New Mutants #18.

IDW has announced four new Marvel-focused products for Fall 2023:

Walter Simonson’s Fantastic Four Artist’s Edition (9798887240350, scheduled for September) collects complete stories of mythic proportions from Fantastic Four #337–341 and #352–354, a celebrated run from Simonson on “the World’s Greatest Comic Magazine.”

Bill Sienkiewicz’s Mutants and Moon Knights and Assassins Artisan Edition (9781684059683, scheduled for September) spotlights some of the finest covers, pinups, and pages from Sienkiewicz’s Moon Knight, The New Mutants, and Elektra: Assassin projects.

John Romita’s Amazing Spider-Man: The Daily Strips Artist’s Edition (9798887240558, scheduled for October) showcases approximately 300 of the very earliest Amazing Spider-Man daily comic strips by the two creators most associated with the Web-Slinger: Stan “the Man” Lee and “Jaunty” John Romita.

John Byrne’s X-Men Artist’s Edition (9798887240435, scheduled for November), printed for the first time since 2018, collects many pages from seminal tales of Marvel’s mutants, including two of the most influential comic storylines of all time: “The Dark Phoenix Saga” and “Days of Future Past.”

These new Artist’s Editions products are in addition to three Marvel-focused items already announced for 2023: Kevin Nowlan’s Marvel Heroes Artist’s Edition (9781684059720, scheduled for April), Michael Golden’s Marvel Stories Artist’s Edition (9781684059195, scheduled for July), and Frank Miller’s Daredevil Artist’s Edition (9798887240046, scheduled for August). Even more exciting Marvel Artist’s Edition projects are expected to be announced for 2023 and beyond.

Setting the industry standard for high-end archival collectibles, IDW’s Artist’s Editions provide comic lovers everywhere with the most authentic original comic art experience possible. Each oversized hardcover in the line collects pages from acclaimed comic book runs, with each page scanned in high resolution from the actual storyboard artwork of such legends as Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, John Buscema, Dave Stevens, and many more. Enthusiasts are able to clearly see all the distinctive creative nuances that make original art unique. In a perfect representation of the work in its original form, each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board.

As an extension of the Artist’s Editions line, IDW also offers Artisan Editions, collecting the original artwork reproductions in a less expensive and more practically sized paperback format.

Whilce Portacio returns to the X-Men and Bishop!

The year was 1991, and the X-Men were at the forefront of their incredible 90s heyday. Enter Lucas Bishop! Created by Whilce Portacio and John Byrne along with Portacio’s longtime friend, artist Karl Altstaetter, Bishop burst onto the scene from the far future and infused the mutant mythos with his explosive no-nonsense attitude and the riveting mystery that drove him. The energy-absorbing mutant soldier has been a central figure in X-Men storytelling ever since, and this January, fans will travel back in time to his groundbreaking comics debut in X-Men Legends #5-6. The saga will be written and drawn by Portacio himself along with prolific comics writer Brian Haberlin.

The story will finally reveal the genesis of Bishop’s fateful time travel mission that pulled him from the future and into the X-Men’s present! Presaging Bishop’s first appearance in the classic Uncanny X-Men #282, the arc will shed new light on Bishop’s original motivations and the intense guilt he feels over his fallen teammates as well as provide surprising depth to the dystopian world he left behind. This incredible and moving two-parter is only the latest X-Men epic in X-Men Legends, the series that sees X-Men’s greatest creators return with all-new, in-continuity tales set during their original iconic runs!

Bishop, Malcolm, and Randall, the elite Omega Squad, have discovered a dark truth about the X.S.E. After a mission goes sideways, how far will they be willing to go to make this right? To the past — and beyond! Bishop will make the most shocking decision in X-MEN LEGENDS history that will redefine what you thought you knew about mutantkind’s future and the reason behind Bishop’s collision with the X-Men!

Witness legendary Whilce Portacio’s never-before-told vision for Bishop when X-Men Legends #5 hits stands in January!

She-Hulk posters from John Byrne and Jen Bartel drop on Mondo today

Mondo welcomes the MCU’s latest hero with a pair of new posters celebrating her legacy in comics.

Debuting in 1980, Jennifer Walters (aka She-Hulk) has long been a staple of Marvel Comics, having been a card carrying member of The Avengers, Fantastic Four, The Defenders, and even a hero for hire. However, it was her second solo title from 1989, The Sensational She-Hulk, where we first fell in love with Jen.

Today Mondo offers a new screenprinted poster of John Byrne’s iconic premiere issue cover.

Additionally, Mondo also has a new poster for She-Hulk #5 by 2022 Eisner Award winner for Best Cover Artist: Jen Bartel!

Mondo’s legal advice? Buy these or Jen will come to your house and rip up your X-Men Mondo wall … or litigate you.

These posters will be available tomorrow, Thursday, August 25 at 11AM CT, only on The Drop at mondoshop.com.
