Review: Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor Year Two #3

12D_2.3_Cover A

The Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald are back with more timey – whimey adventures in the 3rd part of this series. This time the setting is Scotland where there is a species of reptiles that are living on a remote Island off of Scotland. Clara, is being Clara and getting herself in trouble as she brings her students to this remote island which is against the school’s rules. She runs into these reptile creatures and runs into the Doctor as she’s trying to escape. The Doctor helps Clara and her students and bring them back to their school where they learn what is really going on earth and at the school.

The story line is pretty good. It flows there isn’t anything that does not make sense and thank fully I am fully versed in the world of the Doctor and his TARDIS. Robbie Morrison could have picked a better story line. I didn’t get gripped by it and ended up knowing what was going to happen, before it happens. Which I think is just natural of Doctor who anyways, we always know that somehow, someway the Doctor is going to get out of the Jam and save everyone. I don’t think a comic book series could do the Doctor any justice. Not enough pages to suck you in.

The Doctor Who format was made in a way to draw you in over an hour long of building a story that always makes you wonder if the Doctor and his companion are going to get themselves out of trouble and normally they do. But to try to do that in 30 or so pages just doesn’t work. I am going to stick to watching it on Netflix as opposed to reading it in a comic book

Rachel Scott on the other hand did a great job with the artwork. I think she could have been more detailed with Clara as she is probably one of the most beautiful women in all of time and space and the artwork with her does not do her justice. The Coloring by Ivan Nunes was dark and did not pop for me at all. Overall this comic wasn’t memorable for me which is a shame because I am a huge fan of Doctor Who. But I don’t think the show was ever meant to be turned into a comic book.
