Elect the Legion of Super-Heroes Leader

Bookmark and Share

DC has thrown up a simple website to allow the public to chose and “elect” the next leader of the Legion of Super-Heroes.  Voting ends on November 10.  While I like the concept this is beyond a missed opportunity for DC.  Treating this like a real election, with campaign websites, videos and attack ads (don’t forget deep social media integration) would of gotten buzz for the series from outside of the comic book community and driven free word of mouth advertising you could never pay for.  Another epic online fail from DC.

Thanks For The Free $25 Amazon

Amazon is doing their best for making amends for the glitch that occurred Sunday that listed numerous comic book collections for $14.99 and below.  To make up for the glitch and the promise of hundreds of dollars in comics for pennies, Amazon is sending $25 in credit to those affected.  We received this notice yesterday.

Hello,

We wanted to follow up on a recent message we sent about the cancellation of your recent order.

To recap: Due to a pricing error, we sold many more graphic novels than expected. In fact, we completely sold out — we don’t have any in stock right now, and we’re not sure when we’ll be able to get more.

We’re sorry for any frustration the issue may have caused, and have applied a $25 promotional certificate to your account.

You can use it the next time you order an item shipped and sold by Amazon.com. You’ll see your available promotional balance at checkout–this amount will be applied to your next order automatically without entering a claim code.

I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely,

Customer Service

Thanks Amazon for the free $25.

Did You Get Your Amazon Order? We Didn’t.

The internets were abuzz on Sunday when a glitch in Amazon’s system listed numerous comic books for $14.99 or less, many of which cost over $125.  We attempted to take advantage but received the below email yesterday.

Hello,

Our records indicate you recently ordered ‘Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol. 1 (v. 1)
Amazing Fantasy Omnibus HC Brereton Variant
The X-Men Omnibus, Vol. 1
Secret Wars Omnibus
Wolverine Omnibus, Vol. 1
The Ultimates Omnibus
Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis & Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 2’. Unfortunately, due to a pricing error, we sold many more than expected. In fact, we completely sold out — we don’t have any in stock right now, and we’re not even sure if we’ll be able to get more.

As a result, we’ve had to cancel your order. I realize this is disappointing news, and I’m so sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

You may want to check our website from time to time to see if this item is available. If anyone is selling it, you’ll see a “More Buying Choices” box on the product detail page; if it’s not available from any sellers, you might see an “Order it used” or “Alert me” link. “Order it used” allows you to place a pre-order for the item in case another seller lists the item for sale later. “Alert me” allows you to sign up so we can e-mail you when Amazon has stock available for purchase.

I’m sorry I don’t have better news. We hope to see you again soon.

Bleeding Cool and TechCrunch are reporting that folks who had their orders canceled by Amazon are receiving a $25 gift certificate due to their snafu.  So far we haven’t come across this generous offer.  We’ll update you if we do.

The Great $14.99 Amazon Sell Off

Bookmark and Share

Today, comic books dominated the Top 100 selling books on Amazon as numerous omnibuses were listed at unusually cheap amounts.  Many were being sold for $14.99 and some even at $8.24 after Amazon discounts.  This is clearly a mistake as this isn’t the “at cost” price.

According to Bleeding Cool this is a glitch and being fixed.  With some of these collections going for $125 the question remains will these orders be fulfilled or cancelled?

You might as well role the dice and pick up some dirt cheap items.  The worst case scenario is you get an email saying your order is being canceled, the best case you just fattened up your comic collection.

We took advantage and are looking forward to:

  • Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol. 1 (v. 1)
  • Amazing Fantasy Omnibus HC Brereton Variant
  • The X-Men Omnibus, Vol. 1
  • Secret Wars Omnibus
  • Wolverine Omnibus, Vol. 1
  • The Ultimates Omnibus
  • Daredevil Omnibus, Vol. 2

Indigo and Orange Rings Out Today

As previously announced, DC Comics is releasing rings for each of the Lantern corps. to promote their major event Blackest Night.  Each color was to be released every two weeks starting last week and boost the sales of books that aren’t quite the best sellers.

Well, leave it to DC to decide to ditch their release schedule and mess up what seemed like a good plan.  This week sees the release of:

Booster Gold #26 – Orange Ring – supposed to be released November 18.

R.E.B.E.L.S. #10 – Indigo Ring – supposed to be released January 13.

These two rings flank the Black Lantern Ring in the photo below (to it’s left and right).

I have to say I’m impressed a book is released almost two months before it should, but also left scratching my head as to why they’d ditch their promotion’s schedule.

Fail DC, Fail.
