SDCC 2018: Eaglemoss Shows Off New Ships, New Busts, New Collections, and Lots of Bundles

Eaglemoss Hero Collector returns to San Diego Comic-Con bigger than ever! Fans will be able to start or add to their collections – as well as purchase outstanding gifts for other fans in their lives – with special prices throughout the convention. You can find them at booth #3249 starting Wednesday, July 18 through Sunday, July 22. The booth is also the sot to get a first look at some of Eaglemoss’ new releases.

After the tremendous success of Season 1 of Star Trek: Discovery, Eaglemoss is now gearing up for season 2 with a preview of two soon-to-be released ships from the Star Trek: Discovery Official Starships Collection – the U.S.S. Europa and one of the few Vulcan designs seen in the series so far, the Vulcan Cruiser.

Fans in attendance will also be among the first to get their hands on two recent additions to Eaglemoss’ line of Star Trek Starships XL Editions – the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A and the U.S.S. Defiant NX-74205, Starfleet’s first true warship. On display, but not yet available for purchase, will be the next pair of XL Editions due to be released in Q4 of 2018 the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B and the Miranda-class U.S.S. Reliant.

Visitors will also get a first look at two new bonus ships from the original Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection – Rick Sternbach’s U.S.S. Voyager Concept and the Klingon Bird-of-Prey (Landing Position).

Rounding out Eaglemoss’ Star Trek presence is perhaps their most exciting news yet – the all-new Official Star Trek Collector’s Busts. This new collection features the iconic captains of Starfleet and other memorable characters from over 50 years of Star Trek TV and movie history, capturing them in impressive detail with highly accurate likenesses, uniforms and props. These hand-painted polyresin busts are 4.5 to 6” tall, come complete with a fact-filled magazine, and form an essential addition to any Star Trek collection. On display at SDCC for the first time anywhere will be four fan favorites – Kirk, Spock, Worf and Data.

Sticking with sci-fi, Eaglemoss’ SDCC lineup also includes the newly released Battlestar Galactica: The Official Ships Collection, featuring models from both the classic 1978 and 2004 series. Each oft hese die-cast ships is between 8 and 11 inches long and includes a 16-pagemagazine. In addition to featuring the first two ships in the series at the booth, Eaglemoss will be selling the convention exclusive variant of the Viper Mark II featuring the Lee “Apollo” Adama Call sign and tail number. Strictly limited to only 500 ships worldwide, each comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Fans will also be able to sneak a peek at the next ship in the collection, the Battlestar Galactica itself from the 2004 re-imagined series.

The fan-favorite Alien and Predator Official Figurine Collection will also be represented at SDCC, with a preview of the upcoming Special Edition of Ripley in the Power Loader from Aliens. Produced in the same 1/16 scale as the rest of the collection, it’s the perfect companion to the already released Alien Xenomorph Queen Special.

Soaring from sci-if to superheroes, the newest additions to Eaglemoss’ popular lines of DCComics collectibles will also be showcased. All seven stars of the newest mini-series in the DC Superheroes Figurine Collection, the Justice League Animated Series, will be on display, as will all six heroes and villains from the second mini-series of Batman Animated Series Figurines.

Last but certainly not least, the first five iterations of Diana of Themyscira from the all-new Wonder Woman Mythologies Collection will also be shown.

Star Trek’s First “A” Ship Joins XL Editions

It was only in service to Starfleet for seven years – but what monumental years those were.  It only makes sense, then, for Eaglemoss Collections to induct the fabled U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A into its collection of monumentally sized XL Editions, available by subscription to the Official Star Trek Starships XL Editions, as well as from the Eaglemoss Shop and local comic shops.

Fans know that this is the Enterprise designed and engineered to replace the refitted Enterprise NCC-1701 destroyed at the climax of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.  This is the Enterprise the command of which was offered to Admiral James T. Kirk for a job well down at the conclusion of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (the fact that this meant Kirk would be reduced in rank back to Captain could not have pleased him – or his crew – more).

This is also the Enterprise commandeered by the Vulcan Sybok and his followers in a quest that took the entire crew beyond the Great Barrier in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.  And this is the Enterprise sent to escort Chancellor Gorkon of the Klingon Empire to the peace talks at Khitomer – only to be caught in a web of deception spun by the Klingon General Chang and several rogue Starfleet officers in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

As significant as the Enterprise-A is to the history of Starfleet and the 23rd Century, it should also be noted that this is the first ship in Star Trek production history to carry the “A” designation, enabling the Enterprise name to be retained, reimagined and re-engineered first as the 24th Century’s Enterprise-D in Star Trek: The Next Generation, then as the Enterprise-B and Enterprise-C in stories that filled in the timeline, and then, later on, as the Enterprise-E and Enterprise-J.  So much for the notion of naming this new ship anything other than Enterprise!

Officially authorized by CBS Studios, Eaglemoss’ XL Edition of the U.S.S. Enterprise NC-1701-A is a precision die-cast model featuring high-quality ABS materials and reproduced under the supervision of Star Trek expert Ben Robinson.  At approximately 10.6 inches in length, it has been hand-painted to capture the finest detail and comes with a display stand as well as an exclusive collector’s magazine that provides an in-depth profile of the ship, with detailed annotations and a breakdown of on-board technology, crew and weaponry.

One was a Soviet cosmonaut, selected from among more than 400 applicants to soar into space on the Vostok 6 mission on June 16, 1963. Twenty years and two days later – on June 18, 1983 – an American astronaut rose to similar heights of fame aboard the space shuttle Challenger. They were, respectively, Valentina Tereshkova and Sally Ride. The course they charted for women — in their own countries and around the world — continues to resonate throughout the cosmos.

It’s been a quarter century since the debut of the first Star Trek series not set on board a ship called Enterprise and Eaglemoss Collections is giving fans an opportunity to celebrate. Here are nine classic starships that put into port across seven seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Each is available to own as an incredibly detailed die-cast replica, official authorized by CBS Studios, and at special 25th anniversary savings – either as part of a subscription to the Official Star Trek Starships Collection or as individual purchases from the Eaglemoss Shop or favorite comic shop.

1: Danube Class Runabout

A vital part of operations for the Deep Space Nine crew, able to serve on a variety of different mission types. The ships in this class were named for famous rivers on Earth, including the U.S.S. Rio Grande, the U.S.S. Yangtzee and the U.S.S. Orinoco.

2: Bajoran Solar-Sail Vessel

A relic from the distant past of Bajoran space exploration. Legend had it that it made it all the way to Cardassia itself almost 800 years prior. Benjamin Sisko recreated this ship from ancient plans to see if the legend was true.

3: Cardassian Galor Class

The most-common warships in the Cardassian fleet, they featured heavily in DS9 during the Dominion War. Fighting alongside Dominion ships, they inflicted heavy damage to the combined Federation and Klingon fleets.

4: Akira Class

Built for action, it played a major role in winning back Deep Space Nine for the Federation. Designed to confront threats encroaching on Starfleet’s borders in space, the ship’s layout presented a narrow target, and its saucer section functioned not unlike an aircraft carrier.

5: U.S.S. Defiant

Originally built to defend against a Borg invasion, this relatively small class prototype was the Federation’s very first true warship.  At just 4 decks and a crew of about 40, it nevertheless proved itself as one of the most-powerful and consistent players in the Dominion War’s hard-fought battles.

6: Jem’Hadar Fighter

Commonly used by the Dominion at the front lines of battle, this beetle-shaped attack ship was typically deployed in groups of three. Late in the Dominion War, it was outfitted with an energy-dampening weapon that proved devastating to Federation forces and their allies until countermeasures were eventually developed.

7: Bajoran Raider

Made from spare parts and whatever Bajoran Resistance engineers could scrounge together, this ship was a true underdog, not even capable of impulse speeds in space, let alone warp. But within a planet’s atmosphere, this strike fighter bared its teeth, often attacking in groups, and proving itself faster and more maneuverable than ships that otherwise outclassed it.

8: Romulan Shuttle

In many ways a comparable ship class to the Federation Danube Class Runabout, but with a very distinctive Romulan design and features. It also had a cloaking device that rendered the ship invisible to sensors as well as the naked eye.

9: Klingon Vor’cha Class

This battlecruiser featured heavily in all the defining battles of the Dominion War and was the flagship of choice for General Martok, as well as Chancellors Gowron and K’mpec. Instantly recognizable as a Klingon vessel, years of peace and sharing of technology with the Federation influenced aspects of its design.
