Dark Horse Comics and renowned creators Hannah Rose May and Utkarsh Ambudkar present a fresh new take on the spy thriller romance with upcoming comic series The Guy in the Chair. Featuring interior and cover art by Guillermo Sana, colors by Dearbhla Kelly, and letters by Steve Wands. The four-issue series begins in October 2025. 

May is no stranger to comics, having created the series Rogues’ Gallery and The Exorcism at 1600 Penn at IDW previously. Now, joined by Ambudkar, known for his work in CBS’ hit comedy Ghosts and the Emmy-nominated film World’s Best as well as his music career, the duo have penned an imaginative, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about two people navigating careers in covert operations.

Darkwing Duck Flaps into a Brand-New Ongoing Series by Daniel Kibblesmith and with Original Creator Tad Stones!

The Duck Knight returns this February, as Disney’s beloved Darkwing Duck spreads his wings and dons his crime-fighting garb in a new ongoing comic book series! Fan-favorite writer and comedy virtuoso Daniel Kibblesmith helms the team, joined by artistic duo Ted Brandt and Ro Stein, as well as contributions from beloved original character creator Tad Stones!

The fowl that felons most fear is back in action each and every month, upping the ante for Dynamite Entertainment’s new era of comic book tales following the escapades of Disney’s world-famous ducks. This new series takes a fun approach, courtesy of writer Kibblesmith, seeking to ask and answer all the essential questions about the beloved star. How did this avian exemplar develop his redoubtable reputation? What lessons did he learn in his earliest days of foe-foiling? His legion of fans, both within the story and reading these comics, as well as his adopted daughter, Gosalyn, want the lowdown on all these key questions. Darkwing is more than happy to revisit the highlights of his crime-busting career — though there can be no promise that these chronicles will not be embellished, organized, chronological, or verifiable in any way. But they will be a blast!

As fans return to the rooftops of St. Canard, they will learn that an unreliable narrator is better than no narrator at all. Readers are invited to revisit Darkwing Duck’s formative years, and his most famous feats. It’s up to them to determine what they can believe!

Joining the creative team of Kibblesmith, Brandt, Stein, colorist Dearbhla Kelly, and letterer Fabio Amelia, is the character’s legendary original creator from the early 1990s. Artist, animator, writer, director, and producer Tad Stones is back with his most signature work. The debut issue of the new series sports an incredible cover newly illustrated by Stones.

On the variant covers front, Tad is joined by another artistic great in Mark Bagley, as well as Nicoletta Baldari, Ciro Cangialosi, and interior art duo Brandt and Stein.

A skeptical woman of science, Sam butts heads with her spiritual mother Ana, a leader of a witch coven specializing in Brujeria. But when the coven’s Brujas start turning up murdered, Sam and Ana must work together to find the killer and save their town’s Day of the Dead festival from turning into an occult bloodbath. As if sharing a bathroom with her mom wasn’t hard enough.

Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 kicks off some solid 80s action

Following the grisly events of Bloodlines, the woman formerly known as Jessica Blute – a.k.a. Jen Fellows, a.k.a. Jennifer Blood – finds herself involved with a new class of criminals. This one-woman bane of organized crime is supposedly dead and buried, and that’s exactly what she wants the world to think. Now, however, a visit to her original penitentiary gravesite puts Blood in the crosshairs of a vicious prison gang – one that has no idea of what’s about to hit them! Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 is the start of a whole new story that’s new reader friendly and evokes 80s action films.

Written by Fred Van Lente, Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 is a solid start to the new miniseries, one that any new reader can walk right in to. I regularly read the series when it debuted many years ago, loving the over the top action that reminded me of films I grew up with. Admittedly, I fell off from reading each subsequent series and it’s been quite a while since I have. That being said, the comic catches readers up with everything they need to know making it easy to jump right in to and appreciate.

And if you’re a fan of 80s action films, you’ll appreciate it. Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 has a vibe that’s a little Cobra, a little revenge films, delivering a read where the dialogue should just be expected as cheesy and the action unrealistic. And it works, it works well. Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 delivers exactly what you’d expect and readers of the series will want.

Artist Robert Carey delivers the cool with color by Dearbhla Kelly and lettering by Jeff Eckleberry. While the action here isn’t quite as prevalent as one might expect, Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 delivers more than enough to keep readers engaged and excited. Part of the visual fun is not knowing where things are going to go. There’s a build up to each moment and visually, you never know where things might go. It could be some amazing action, it could just be a cool back and forth in dialogue. It’s just a solid visual delivery the entire time.

Jennifer Blood: Battle Diary #1 is a good jumping on point. If you just want a comic that knows exactly what it is and delivers some good action where the bullets fly and body count rises, look no further. This is a series that delivers exactly what the audience expects and enjoys.

Limit Break Comics to Launch Fractured Realms at Thought Bubble 2023

Dublin based comic collective Limit Break Comics will launch Fractured Realms, an anthology of Norse Horror comics, at Thought Bubble 2023. The book is the third myth-anthology to be published by Limit Break Comics, following the success of Turning Roads and Down Below.

Thought Bubble 2023 takes place November 11 and 12 at the Harrogate Convention Centre in North Yorkshire.
