A New Look at Contest of Champions #1. Let the Games Begin.

The Secret Wars may be over, but the battle is just beginning! Marvel has released a first look at Contest of Champions #1. The brand-new series is in-continuity and inspired by the hit mobile game! The series is written by Al Ewing with art by Paco Medina.

Enter the Battlerealm, a broken section of space-time where cosmic beings gamble for the ultimate power. Where unwilling pawns from across the Marvel Universe do battle for their very lives, locked in combat with friends, foes and everything in between. Even those long dead are not immune to the Contest. As heroes and villains from various universes are mysteriously transported to Battlerealm, the war is about to begin. To the winners go the ultimate prize – their continued existence. The same cannot be said for the losers.

Who will survive….

This assortment of two-inch warrior animals includes four different two-packs: Vorin the Ram with Vachonus the Scorpion, Merk the Falcon with Fenruk the Tarantula, Gruntos the Walrus with Tate Reynolds and Strictus the Rattlesnake with Bliss Reynolds. The Beasts are all depicted in exclusive comic- accurate color schemes, and human characters Tate and Bliss are only available in this assortment – they each come with one of the two Dread Weapons, so don’t miss out!

Hero Initiative Partners with The Walking Dead for First-Ever Image Comics “100 Project”

The Hero Initiative, the charity dedicated to helping comic creators in medical and financial need, has drawn great acclaim for its “100 Projects” in recent years, in which 100 artists draw an original cover on a special anniversary issue.

Now, after running projects with Marvel Comics, DC and Archie, Hero Initiative proudly announces that its latest and greatest “100 Project” will feature the best-selling comic of 2012—The Walking Dead #100. This marks the first time Hero has partnered in such a way with Image Comics and Skybound.

Artists including The Walking Dead illustrator, Charlie Adlard, will contribute original covers, as will other top talents such as Dan Brereton, Ian Churchill, Kevin Eastman, Joe Jusko, Dale Keown and Whilce Portacio. And yes, even The Walking Dead creator/writer and Image Comics partner Robert Kirkman will contribute. (He can draw a little!)

A public viewing of all 100 covers will be scheduled for winter of 2012-13, along with auctions of all the original covers. A book collecting all the art will be available in 2013.

Dynamite Entertainment is bringing back the classic Chaos! character Evil Ernie from the creative team of writer Jesse Blaze Snider and artist Jason Craig. Covers will be provided by Ardian Syaf, Nick Bradshaw, Tim Seeley, and Dan Brereton. Check it out October 2012.
