Gotham Trading Cards Get Season 2

Cryptozoic Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. TV, have released Gotham Trading Cards Season 2. Based on the second season of the hit Warner Bros. Television series, which tells the story of Gotham City in the years before Batman’s emergence, the set features a 72-card Base Set, four Chase Sets, and randomly inserted authentic Autograph and Wardrobe Cards.

Signers for the set include fan-favorite actors David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle), Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin), James Frain (Theo Galavan/Azrael), Nicholas D’Agosto (Harvey Dent), Jessica Lucas (Tabitha Galavan), BD Wong (Hugo Strange), and Cameron Monaghan (Jerome Valeska). Some packs include special double and triple Autograph Cards, with signatures from multiple actors. Moreover, there are single, double, and triple Wardrobe Cards containing portions of items worn on the series, including clothes worn by Ben McKenzie (as James Gordon). Three of the Chase Sets focus on Super-Villains: “Bad and Beautiful,” “The Maniax,” and Rising Villains.” The fourth Chase Set, ”New Day, Dark Knights,” puts the spotlight on Gotham City’s protectors.

The trading cards capture all the drama and complex characters of Season 2 of Gotham, as Detective Jim Gordon faces a rising tide of DC Super-Villains in Gotham City. Among the new threats are Theo Galavan and his sister Tabitha, Hugo Strange, and Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze. Returning to wreak more havoc are Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Edward Nygma, Barbara Kean, and Jerome, who brings along his unhinged Maniax. With so much danger in the city, Gordon depends on the help of allies like partner Harvey Bullock, Captain Nathaniel Barnes, and District Attorney Harvey Dent. Unboxing: DC Comics Deck-Building Game Crossover Pack 5: The Rogues

Asking for help is never a strong suit for villains, but sometimes they need a helping hand to snag a big score or take down a worthy hero. Villains like Captain Cold, Weather Wizard, Heatwave and the rest often need to work together to take down The Flash and his speedy allies. With DC Comics Deck-Building Game Crossover Pack 5: The Rogues, you become a Super-Villain who always has some help within reach, thanks to Teamwork.

“Teamwork” is a keyword found on each of the oversized Super-Villain cards and several new cards for the main deck. It allows you to play the top card of another player’s deck. The code “honor among thieves” usually applies here, as the player who you chose to assist you gets a piece of the action.

Speaking of action, every Rogues card in the set immediately grants you Victory Point tokens when acquired. These VP tokens will come in handy during the game. After all, it takes money to make money . . .

We crack open and show off this new expansion for the DC Comics Deck-Building Game.

Capcom’s Street Fighter video game franchise launched in arcades in 1987 and immediately made its mark, as players took on the challenge of battling through an international martial arts tournament. The second game in the series, 1991’s Street Fighter II, became a worldwide phenomenon, with gameplay and design elements that revolutionized the fighting game genre. Chief among these was the ability of players to choose from a diverse group of characters, each with a unique fighting style and a different country of origin. The numerous updates and sequels in the series have continued to be hugely popular, including the most recent release, 2016’s Street Fighter V.

The various new lines of Street Fighter collectibles will be released in stores worldwide later in 2017.

Unboxing: Batman The Animated Series: Almost Got Im Card Game

The villains of Gotham city have gathered for a poker night and to share stories about the time they nearly dispensed with that troublesome Caped Crusader, Batman. Little do they know that the dark Knight is in their midst, disguised as one of their own. Will the rogues be able to suss out the bat in their Belfry before he clandestinely subdues them? this variant on the popular werewolf-style deduction game, inspired by the memorable Batman: The Animated Series episode “Almost Got I’m”, adds a poker element to the proceedings, requiring participants to craft poker hands to activate their special abilities when the lights go out. Take on the personas of classic Batman baddies in a game where everyone has something to hide and no one is safe. With poker hands guiding the action, players have something to talk about. Everyone has an important role. No bystanders in this game! too often, social deduction games begin with random accusations just to get the ball rolling. No so here. Players can request poker cards from other players, and often see what cards other players are taking. Enemies are made when someone takes the card you wanted. Now you have a reason to be suspicious of another player!

Based on the classic Batman: The Animated Series episode this card/social game from Crytpozoic Entertainment is for 5 to 8 players.

We open up the box to show off what’s inside!

Spyfall 2 Gets a Release by Cryptozoic

spyfall-2-2Cryptozoic Entertainment has released the card game Spyfall 2. Developed by leading Russian game publisher Hobby World, the sequel to the hit 2015 social deduction party game will come to the U.S. courtesy of Cryptozoic.

The first Spyfall was a hit with fans and critics alike. In 2014, it won “Best Party Game” from The Dice Tower Gaming Awards and was nominated for “Best Party Game” and “Best Innovative Board Game” from BoardGameGeek’s Golden Geek Awards. In 2015, it won a “Major Fun Award,” which is given to games that are “adaptable, enjoyable, quality products.” In addition, it received the Recommended Award in 2016 from the jury of the Spiel des Jahres, the prestigious German award for tabletop games.

Spyfall 2 expands the first game, featuring 3-12 player capability, up to two spies, and 20 new locations. It is a standalone expansion, meaning players can play it by itself or combine it with the first Spyfall to make the experience even more complex and challenging. The game’s 20 new wacky locations include the Retirement Home, Candy Factory, and Prison. Players who get location cards also receive suggested roles for those locations that they can utilize for added fun. Whereas the first game only allowed for one spy and a maximum of eight players, the sequel increases the possibilities with up to two spies and 12 players.

During play, all players receive secret location cards, except for the one or two players who receive spy cards instead. Players ask and answer questions to get information out of their fellow players. Non-spy players attempt to trip up the spies, while the spies try to gain enough clues to guess their location.

In each round of play, after the players receive their secret location and spy cards, they start a stopwatch that runs for a set length of time. The players then take turns asking each other questions and answering. It is a balancing act as non-spy players offer information about the current location to let the others know that they know where they are, without revealing the location to the spies. In contrast, spy players have to come up with questions and plausible answers to other players’ queries without knowing where they really are!

At the end of each round, players declare their suspicions and try to convince each other. Then, they start voting on each player’s guilt one at a time, beginning with the dealer. If enough players vote that someone is guilty, that player reveals his or her card and the voting is over. If the player is indeed a spy, the non-spies win. If the player is not a spy, the spies win. If no player is convicted after each player has been voted on, the spies win.

Spyfall 2 will be available at retailers nationwide on January 27 for a suggested retail price of $24.99.
