The Avengers Grace the Cover of Entertainment Weekly

Hitting the shelves this week, Marvel‘s next big movie, The Avengers  graces the cover of Entertainment Weekly.  The issue features  some behind the scenes insight into next summer’s monster movie which comes out May 4.  The movie brings together Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor, Chris Evans‘ Captain America, Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury and newcomers Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.  The film is directed  and written by Joss Whedon.

MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS Signings at Comic-Con International In San Diego

All ready for the fun and excitement that Marvel is bringing to Comic Con International in San Diego this week? Well we’re ready to turn it up a notch by announcing the signing schedule for Marvel’s The Avengers!  Here’s your chance to meet some of the superstars involved in the highly anticipated major motion picture – ONLY at the Marvel Booth (#2329) during the convention! Each signing is a ticketed event and requires a specific ticket for that individual signing. Fans should come to the Marvel Booth (#2329) as soon the convention opens to the public on each morning for a chance (no purchase necessary) to receive one of the limited number of signing tickets.

Marvel Unveils Comic Con International Signing Schedule

Comic Con International in San Diego is almost here and we know you’re going to be spending a lot of time at the Marvel Booth (#2329). And why wouldn’t you be? You’ll have the chance to meet the legendary Stan Lee and a whole host of your favorite superstar Marvel creators like Jeph Loeb, Brian Michael Bendis, and Matt Fraction in person! Marvel always brings the best talent and the biggest announcements to San Diego and this year is no different. So clear those calendars True Believers because Marvel plans on keeping you busy! Marvel Studios Announces THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER Signings at Comic-Con

Marvel Studios is proud to announce the signing schedule for its two hotly-anticipated blockbuster films, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, at Comic-Con International in San Diego!

The complete Marvel Studios signing schedule for Saturday July 24th at the Marvel Booth (#2329), is below:

11:15 – 12:00: Thor signing—Kenneth Branagh

12:30 – 1:30: Thor signing—Chris Hemsworth & Tom Hiddleston

2:00—3:00: Captain America: The First Avenger signing—Chris Evans & Hugo Weaving

3:30—4:30: Captain America: The First Avenger signing—Joe Johnston

Each signing is a ticketed event and requires a specific ticket for that individual signing. Fans should come to the Marvel Booth (#2329) as soon the convention opens to the public on Saturday morning for a chance (no purchase necessary) to receive one of the limited number of signing tickets.

Chris Evans is Captain America

Variety has some of the details about the deal currently Chris Evansbeing negotiated between Marvel comics and the actor to fill the boots of icon comic character Captain America.

The role calls for the actor to star in at least three “Captain America” movies, starting with The First Avenger: Captain America, which Marvel is already planned to hit theaters on July 22, 2011.  Paramount will distribute the movie.

Evans would also would reprise the role in The Avengers, which will unite Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton) in one movie.  That film is skedded for May 4, 2012.

We should also expect the character to pop up in various cameos in other Marvel movies.  They’ve taken the unprecedented move of tying their films together in one universe and culminating in the Avengers crossover movie.

This will be the third comic book franchise Evans will be a part of.  His first was the role of Johnny Storm/the Human Torch which he played twice in Marvel’s two Fantastic Four movies and he will also be a part of the upcoming movie, the Losers.

Hugo Weaving will play the villain, Red Skull.

Some blogs have reported the deal has been finalized and it’s only time until an official announcement.

There’s even a political twist to the story.  Chris Evans is the nephew of Congressman Mike Capuano of Massachusetts.
