The Pharoah of Time is alive and he and his enormous mothership have come to 1943’s New York City for Miss Fury. But which one will he find? The immoral murderer with the samurai sword, the titanic stash of grenades and the epic love of debauchery or the Miss Fury who is lost in time, grasping for a sense of sanity and for the good inside her? It’s a metaphysical battle played out with martial arts as two futures of our hero fight for supremacy, and only one Miss Fury is getting out alive.

Trapped in a past that isn’t her own, Miss Fury comes face-to-face with a  version of herself who never found love, and it’s a bloody, murderous revelation. Is this immoral figure who Marla Drake really is? Or has she grown through time into something better? And when the two Miss Furys cross swords, which one will survive?

Review: Green Lantern #24

Green Lantern #24 CoverGreen Lantern #24 has hit shelves and with it the first part of Lights Out, a crossover event that promises to change the Green Lantern universe forever. Relic arrives on Oa as this massive story kicks off! Can the different Lantern Corps come together to stop this powerful enemy? Lights Out will see Lanterns die, others change allegiances—and it seems nothing will be the same ever again!

Relic has a mission, to end the various corps. and the use of light by them. He started with the Blue Lantern Corps. destroying everyone except one and next on his mission is Oa and the Green Lantern Corps. With the prelude and now this first chapter, it’s clear the GL team has a goal of changing the Lantern world going forward.

I’ve been reading the various Green Lantern comics for years now, and with this beginning shot, I really feel like they’re meeting their match and I seriously have no idea what might happen next. Venditti has set things up and knocked it out of the park with this first part of the crossover. The Green Lantern Corps. truly feels like it’s up against the wall.

I’ve said on a few occasions, it’s felt like there’s been a bit of ring proliferation. The corps. and the chapters have grown really big and almost too powerful. It seems the team is looking to reset that issue and creating actual danger and situations where the Lanterns might actually struggle.

Relic is a great addition to the Lantern mythos and I seriously have no idea what might happen next and how this all will get resolved. For this team to do that is impressive. It’s looking like Lights Out might be a hell of an event, one that’ll fly under the radar from all of the other more high-profile ones going on. Do yourself a favor and pick this up as well as the lead up to it.

Miss Fury’s journey through time has ended. But when she returns to “her” Manhattan, she finds that her lover, Captain Chandler, has disappeared. Did he ever exist at all, and if not, what does that say about her sanity? And how do the Crusades-era knights fit into the puzzle?

Preview: A First Look at DC Comics’ Lights Out

This October, Lights Out will span across all of the Green Lantern family titles. And earlier this week, Relic’s Villains Month one-shot hit stores and set the stage for this epic crossover event that will change the Green Lantern universe forever.

Green Lantern writer Robert Venditti explained about the story

There are seven different colors of the emotional spectrum, each of them represented by their own corps. Green Lanterns wear rings powered by will, Red Lanterns rage, Yellow Lanterns fear, and so on. For reasons none of the Lanterns are sure of, the rings have been malfunctioning lately. Enter Relic, a remnant of the universe before ours, who thinks he knows what’s wrong with the rings and has a solution. Unfortunately, ridding the universe of every last Lantern is part of that solution.

The way I describe the story is, it’ll tie together every Lantern of every Corps who has ever appeared in any comic book – ever. It’s an ambitious story, and our editors have been great about letting us take substantial risks with these characters. We’re holding nothing back.

Check out a sneak peek at artist Billy Tan’s awesome interior art for Green Lantern #24, which will kick off Lights Out when it lands in stores on October 2nd.

In a future New York that’s been turned into a war zone by a flying V the size of Manhattan, the truth is finally revealed to Miss Fury. Has her time travelling been real or is she insane back in 1943? And who, exactly, has been manipulating her throughout? With only a dead Nazi scientist as her guide, it’s time for Marla Drake to decide what she is willing to fight and die for.

Preview: DC Comics Provides First Look at Green Lantern #23

Next month, writer Robert Venditti and artist Billy Tan’s new take on the Green Lantern mythology continues to unfold in the pages of Green Lantern #23!

This pivotal issue sets the stage for Green Lantern #24 and the beginning of the epic Lights Out crossover event. “There will be plenty of action,” Venditti recently teased. “In one way or another, each Corps is going to pay a price.” How will Hal Jordan’s new raw recruits handle the impending tragedy? Who are the masked creatures wandering that barren planet? And what does the mysterious Prixiam Nol-Anj intend to do with the power of the Star Sapphire ring she’s inherited — other than beat Hal Jordan senseless?

Find out when Green Lantern #23 goes on sale next month! But in the meantime, check out some of Billy Tan’s incredible interior art from the issue.
