Blood Runs Out of Road in Blood & Thunder #12 by Benito Cereno, E.J. Su, MSassyk, and Robert Kirkman

Skybound and Image Comics have revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers for Blood & Thunder #12. An issue so action-packed; additional story pages were required! From the team of writer Benito Cereno, artist E.J. Su, colorist MSassyK, letterer Rus Wooton, and co-creator Robert Kirkman, the pivotal chapter of this explosive story arc arrives in comic book shops on April 8, 2026.

Friends. Enemies. There may be no difference for Blood as everyone’s agendas are revealed. 

Blood & Thunder is a high-octane sci-fi action epic set in the far future. Earth has integrated alien species into society, but this new order has brought new kinds of laws, crimes, and dangers. The story follows bounty hunter Akeldama “Blood” Bledsoe and her cantankerous talking gun, Thunder, two of the galaxy’s best at tracking down the worst criminals. 

In addition to the main cover by E.J. Su and MSassyK, the lineup of variant covers for Blood & Thunder #12 also includes an open-to-order cover by Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez, a 1:10 incentive variant cover by Haining, and a 1:25 incentive variant cover by Erica Henderson.

Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker Reunite for New Invincible Universe Story in Capes #7

All new Invincible Universe stories start here! Skybound and Image Comics have announced that Capes #7 will feature the first comic book appearance of Ella Mental, an all-new Invincible Universe character. With the power to command earth, wind, fire, and water, Ella Mental will make her debut in the upcoming Invincible VS video game launching April 30 from Skybound and its in-house game development studio Quarter Up. Invincible co-creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker reunite to tell Ella Mental’s story in a series of new back-ups appearing in Capes #7-12. 

As previously announced, Capes #7 will begin an all-new story by writer Benito Cereno alongside returning artist Mark Englert. The series moves beyond its remastered return to explore a new arc of the Invincible Universe when Capes #7 hits comic book shops on May 27, 2026. 

Also not to be missed, Benito Cereno and Mark Englert introduce the biggest mission in Capes history! With Invincible off-planet fighting the Viltrumite War and the new Guardians of the Globe battling The Order, now’s the time for Capes, Inc to become the face of superpowered crime-fighting. But has Bolt already made the one mistake that could doom Capes?   

Capes #7 features a lineup of covers including a main cover by Mark Englert, an Ella Mental-centric cover by Cory Walker and Patricio Delpeche, and additional open-to-order covers by Conor Hughes, Gleb Melnikov, Dike Ruan, and Sanford Greene.

Skybound and Image Comics have unveiled a new lineup of covers for the long out-of-print and very much in-demand comic book series Capes. Over 20 years since its debut, Capes returns with a special remastering, featuring new art and dialogue from the original creative team of Robert Kirkman and Mark Englert.
