In an actual casting announcement, not internet speculation, actor James Spader has been cast as Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Spader is an Emmy Award-winning actor and the film will be directed again by Joss Whedon with a release date of May 1, 2015.

Spader has earned three Emmy’s for his role on Boston Legal and The Practice and will return to television this fall in NBC’s The Blacklist. He’s an established and accomplished television, movie and stage actor.

The announcement was made earlier today on the Marvel blog following rampant speculation and rumor that another another actor would be cast in the role. The internet has been rife with made up “facts” and rumors based on little lately when it comes to comic book movies.
