Zenescope’s Fly Returns With The Fall

Zenescope‘s Fly was a comic book series that flew under the radar and didn’t quite find the audience it deserved. The series was similar to The Cape in that both series explored the corruption of the individual by power, in this case the ability to fly and this series was a nice allegory about addiction. Well, now you’ve got a heads up warning that the series is back with a sequel, Fly: The Fall, set for an October release. Written by creator Raven Gregory, the series includes cover art for issue #1 by David Mack, Ale Garza and Darick Robertson.  Interior artwork will be handled by Robert Gill.

Fly: The Fall continues soon after the life-shattering events of the last volume.  Following the death if his ex-girlfriend, Eddie is now a broken man set on a path of self-destruction from which he may not return.  Meanwhile Francis sets his game-plan in motion to destroy the man who killed is father.  Set in a world where the super-heroes aren’t really heroes at all… How far would you go to Fly?

Fly: The Fall #1 hits shelves in October and is available for order in this month’s Diamond Previews.

NEW DEJAH THORIS SERIES DELVES INTO HER RICH HISTORY!

DEJAH THORIS AND THE WHITE APES OF MARS! IN STORES APRIL 2012!!!

January 17th, 2011, Runnemede, NJ – Dynamite has had incredible critical and commercial success of Dynamite’s Warlord of Mars, Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris, and Warlord of Mars: Fall of Barsoom series.

Read what the critics have had to say about Dynamite’s Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris series!

“Dejah Thoris continues to be an entertaining series that captures the spirit of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels as it explores the perils and pitfalls of Martian existence.” – Diamond Galleries

“Dynamite has created a masterpiece for those familiar with John Carter!” – Broken Frontier

“If you want to sit down and just be entertained with a comic book, then grab this one. This is a fantastic comic, and you won’t regret it.” – Geeks of Doom

“All in all, this was a very fun book!” – Geeks of Doom

Now comes Dejah Thoris and the White Apes of Mars #1!

On the way to an archeological dig at an ancient battle site at the “face” of Mars, Dejah Thoris and her party are stranded. They take shelter in a dead, ancient city –  infested with killer white apes. Hungry ones. The most harrowing horror story in the annals of Barsoom!  Dejah Thoris and the White Apes of Mars is written by Mark Rahner and drawn by Lui Antonio, with covers by Brandon Peterson and Alé Garza and will hit comic stores in April 2012!

“The most terrifying tale in the annals of Barsoom,” says writer Mark Rahner.  “A trip to unearth the secret of the “face of Mars” when the Princess, her best friends and crew get stranded in an ancient dead city – infested with ravenous white apes. You’ve never seen a Mars epic like this!”

“Mark [Rahner] has been on a roll with us, turning out great work on the Green Hornet and Warlord of Mars with the Annuals he did for us,” adds Dynamite Editor Joe Rybandt.  “For this series, we’ve given him a lot more room and he’s paid us back by delivering a terrifying tale of horror and survival on Barsoom! Don’t you miss it!”

“There are so many more stories that can be told about Dejah Thoris, that we knew we had to expand Dejah’s universe with another Dynamic comic book,” states Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. “Mark is doing a fantastic job on this series, and we are extremely excited by his take on Dejah Thoris!”

Princess of Mars is an Edgar Rice Burroughs science fiction novel, the first of his famous series, which initially began publication in serialized form within the pages of All-Story Magazine in February 1912. It is also Burroughs’ first novel, predating his Tarzan stories. Full of swordplay and daring feats, the story is considered a classic example of 20th century pulp fiction.

Dejah Thoris is the Princess of the Martian city state/empire of Helium, Dejah Thoris is the love interest and later the wife of John Carter, an Earthman mystically transported to Mars, and subsequently the mother of their son Carthoris and daughter Tara. She plays the role of the conventional damsel in distress who must be rescued from various perils, but is also portrayed as a competent and capable adventuress in her own right, fully capable of defending herself and surviving on her own in the wastelands of Mars.

Mark Rahner is a veteran critic, interviewer and pop culture writer at the Seattle Times. His comic book work includes “Galveston” and “Cthulhu Tales.”  Rahner’s work has appeared in publications around the world including WIRED, FANGORIA, and STARS AND STRIPES. Media appearances include Headline News, MSNBC TV, KIRO talk radio Seattle, KPTK (Air America) radio Seattle, KZOK (Bob Rivers Show) Seattle, and the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (“Rahner’s Rotten Rentals”).

Zenescope Entertainment to Unveil Miniseries Inspired by ‘The Jungle Book’

Official Press Release

Zenescope Entertainment to Unveil Miniseries Inspired by ‘The Jungle Book’

Dec. 28, 2011 — Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans to release a brand-new miniseries under its Grimm Fairy Tales label entitled “The Jungle Book.” Just as Zenescope has cleverly and effectively reimagined stories inspired by literary classics such as Wonderland, Sinbad, and Neverland, this new miniseries will use Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories as a springboard to tell tales exploring the adventure, the wonder, and the horror of the jungle and the beasts that inhabit it.

The new five-issue miniseries will follow Mowglii, a young girl raised by wolves who finds herself in the middle of what the animals call The Great Animal Battle. Mowglii must learn her place in the jungle and fight for survival against many exotic beasts. But she is not the only human in this jungle island. Three other children have been raised by different animal tribes: Bomani grows up in the tiger tribe that is led by the conniving Shere Kahn, Akili learned the ways of the jungle from the mischievous Tavi mongoose tribe, and Dewan comes of age within the unpredictable Monkeys of Bandar Log, which is led by the insane King Bandar Louis. Mowglii and the rest of the human cubs play key roles in the ongoing Great Animal Battle of Kipling Isle as they approach adulthood.

“I’ve always thought an animal civil war was a fun idea full of potential,” says writer Mark L. Miller, an editor for Ain’t It Cool News who also authored “Nanny & Hank” and, more recently, “Luna: Order of the Werewolf” for Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine. “Once I started thinking of it in the context of Kipling’s famous stories, it all fell into place. I treated the different animal species as warring armies, each with their own leaders and soldiers, each with a purpose they are fighting for. There will be huge scenes of animal battles like you’ve never seen before. There will also be scenes of adventure, horror and discovery as the human characters (Mowglii, Bomani, Akili and Dewan) give you a chance to learn about the sometimes perilous, sometimes beautiful, sometimes terrifying ways of the jungle through fresh eyes. Plus, I get to play around with all of these characters I grew up reading about and loving as a child. It’s a dream come true.”

“Grimm Fairy Tales Presents The Jungle Book #1” will hit shelves in March of 2012, and feature four connecting covers by artist Ale Garza and a retailer incentive cover by Mike DeBalfo. It currently is available for order through Diamond Previews for $2.99 and in full color. For more information, visit Zenescope’s website at www.zenescope.com or its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Zenescope.

Zenescope Entertainment was founded by Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco in 2005, and has quickly grown into one of the top comic book and graphic novel publishing companies in the world. Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales and subsequent spinoff series such as Escape From Wonderland, Neverland and The Piper, which put a dark twist on classic fables, are some of the best-selling and longest-running original independent comic books on shelves today. Zenescope’s licensed titles include the on-going, critically acclaimed Charmed series, based on the long-running popular television series, as well as Se7en and Final Destination, based on New Line Cinema’s successful film franchises.
