Stan, Peters, Atwell, Shatner To Attend Wizard World Sacramento, June 17-19

Sebastian StanWizard World, Inc. continues its 2016 schedule with its third trip to Sacramento Convention Center at Wizard World Sacramento, June 17-19. Captain America star Sebastian Stan, X-Men standout Evan Peters, Hayley Atwell, William Shatner, and Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson headline the roster of celebrity guests scheduled to attend the pop culture extravaganza, the 11th event on Wizard World’s calendar of comic con and gaming cons in 2016.

Jackson will attend on Saturday, June 18, only. Atwell will appear Sunday, June 19, only. Shatner will appear on Friday and Sunday; Stan and Peters are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Other well-known Wizard World Sacramento guests include Jewel Staite, Billy Boyd, Denis O’Hare, Michael Cudlitz, Michael Rooker, Dean Cain, Chris 51 and others.

Artist Alley in Sacramento will feature Arthur Suydam, Phil Ortiz, Paolo Rivera, Jason Shawn Alexander, Billy Martin, James O’Barr, Genese Davis, Mike Norton, Victor Dandridge, Carlo Barberi, John Orlando and many others.

Wizard World Sacramento show hours are Friday, June 17, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Walking Dead #1 Limited Edition Cover Revealed for Wizard World Sacramento

Paolo Rivera The Walking Dead #1Wizard World, Inc. and Skybound have announced that Mythos painter and Daredevil penciler and Eisner Award winner Paolo Rivera has drawn the 12th in a yearlong series of Limited Edition Exclusive Variant Covers of The Walking Dead #1 comic, to be provided free to all full-price attendees at Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento, June 19-21.

The exclusive The Walking Dead #1 edition will be produced in extremely limited quantities and is available at registration to fans at the Sacramento Convention Center only while supplies last. VIP attendees will receive an additional black & white sketch version of the comic.

Rivera started working for Marvel Comics in 2002. Although he began his career painting in oil, he has since moved on to penciling, inking, and coloring (with some occasional sculpting). He was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Fla., and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003, where he studied under David Mazzucchelli. He broke into the comics industry thanks to writer Jim Krueger, whom he met at Megacon in Orlando, Fla. (while still in high school).

Rivera’s best-known painted work is Mythos , a series of six richly-painted origin stories written by Paul Jenkins. Originally published as one-shots, it was collected into a hardcover edition in 2008. He now limits his painted work to covers including The Twelve, The Iliad, The Amazing Spider-Man and Wolverine, among many others. More recently, he penciled six issues of Mark Waid’s Daredevil run. His father, Joe Rivera, inked the issues, for which they received two Eisners.

The Walking Dead stars attending the second annual Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento include Norman Reedus, Christian Serratos and Scott Wilson. The celebrity roster also includes Danny Trejo, Katie Cassidy, Henry Winkler, Kelly Frye, WWE Divas The Bella Twins and Eva Marie, Charlie Carver, Malcolm McDowell, Alfonso Ribeiro and many others.

In addition to Rivera, Artist Alley in Sacramento will feature Neal Adams, Humberto Ramos, Mel Rubi, Phil Ortiz, Peter Bagge, Arthur Suydam, Ethan Van Sciver and more.

Wizard World Presents: ‘Jay & Silent Bob Get Old’ Podcast With Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes In Sacramento

Kevin SmithKevin Smith, who wrote and directed Clerks, Yoga Hosers, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and the series “Comic Book Men” among his many credits, and Jason Mewes , who starred in Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob among numerous collaborations with Smith, will record an episode of their podcast “Jay & Silent Bob Get Old” on Saturday, June 20, at 8:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Community Theater (1400 J Street), in conjunction with the second annual Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento.

A writer, comedian, podcaster, and film director, Smith has written and directed numerous films, including Dogma, Red State and Tusk, in addition to Clerks, Chasing Amy and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. He also has authored Silent Bob Speaks, Shootin’ the Sh*t with Kevin Smith , My Boring-Ass Life and most recently Tough Sh*t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good. He can be heard daily at Smodcast.com, a vast network of podcasts.

In addition to being the never-silent half of the cult heroes Jay and Silent Bob, Mewes has appeared in Smith’s Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Clerks II among 80 film and TV credits. The New Jersey native has also appeared in a variety of indie films, television roles and video game voiceovers, including Pauly Shore is Dead, National Lampoon’s TV: The Movie, Gone Baby Gone, Bitten, Breath of Hate, Silent But Deadly and Noobz.

The WWE stars will appear on Saturday only; Winkler is scheduled for all three days of the event; the others above are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Wizard World Adds Albuquerque, Moves Another Con

wizard worldWizard World, Inc. today announced the addition of Wizard World Comic Con Albuquerque to its 2015 schedule, bringing the current number of Wizard World events scheduled this year to 27. Wizard World acquired naming rights to the event, set for June 19-21, 2015, at the Albuquerque Convention Center, from founder and longtime owner Greg Derrick.

Celebrity and comics creator guests and other details about the event will be announced in the coming weeks. That’s the second Wizard World show for those dates, Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con is also occurring that same weekend.

In early March, the company announced that it was rescheduling Wizard World Comic Con Greenville from May of 2015 to July 15-17, 2016. So, win some and lose some….

Programming Highlights At This Weekend’s Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con

Question-and-answer sessions with top celebrities like Chris Hemsworth, Bruce Campbell, WWE Superstar Sheamus, Julie Benz and Stan Lee, meet-and-greets, adult and kids costume contests, a screening of the new CW series The 100, historical discussions on comics and video games, a film festival and an array of comics and pop culture themed panels comprise the robust featured programming schedule at Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con, March 7-9 at the Sacramento Convention Center. Most programming is included as part of the standard event admission.

Claremont, Adams, Rivera, Van Sciver Headine Comics Creators Roster At Wizard World Sacramento

Eisner Award Hall of Famer Neal Adams, writing legend Chris Claremont, Eisner winner Paolo Rivera and nominee Ethan Van Sciver are among the more than 50 leading comics creators scheduled to attend the inaugural Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con, March 7-9 at the Sacramento Convention Center. Adams, perhaps best known for having revived the Batman and X-Men franchises and Van Sciver will appear all three days, while Claremont and Rivera are scheduled to attend on Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9.

Among the other internationally-known artists and writers to populate the first Sacramento Comic Con Artist Alley are Phil Ortiz, Humberto Ramos, Greg Horn, Michael Golden and Arthur Suydam.

Eisner Award Hall of Famer Stan Lee will also appear in the celebrity autograph area, along with superstars Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead, Chris Hemsworth of Thor, Star Trek‘s Captain Kirk William Shatner, WWE Superstar Sheamus and many others. Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con is the third of 16 events currently scheduled in the 2014 series produced by Wizard World, Inc.

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Get the Wolverine #1 Greg Horn Variant this weekend at the Sacramento Comic Con

Marvel Comics and Wizard World, Inc. have teamed up for another 2014 exclusive variant cover, this of Wolverine #1, drawn by prolific cover artist Greg Horn. VIP attendees at the inaugural Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con, this coming weekend March 7-9 at the Sacramento Convention Center, will receive a free copy of the limited-edition book at registration. The exclusive will be limited to 3,000 copies.

Horn is scheduled to be on site at the event to sign copies (autograph fees may apply). Leading professional comic grader CGC will also be on hand to accept books for grading and Signature Series.

Horn’s Wolverine #1 follows the first two entries, Miracleman #1 and Miracleman #2, both drawn by Eisner Award Hall of Famer Neal Adams for Wizard World Portland Comic Con and New Orleans Comic Con, respectively.

Horn is best known for his artwork on Marvel titles Elektra, Emma Frost, and She-Hulk. He was also the regular cover artist on the acclaimed series Ms. Marvel by Brian Reed. His work in comic books has opened up opportunities on high profile projects in advertising, video games, magazine covers, editorial, boardgames, and novels.
