Wandering Planet Toys has turned heads with their line of collectible action figures that celebrate the pop culture icons of yesteryear, and now co-founders Gavin Hignight and Chris “Doc” Wyatt are teaming up once again for an all-new and entirely unexpected line of retro-style action figures. The Planetoid Raiders are the coolest, quirkiest space travelers ever known to the universe! Who are these intergalactic aliens? And who (or what) are The Arcade Raiders? Inspired by Kenner Toys’ 1978 Star Wars action figures, and their off-the-wall competitor Tomland Toys’ Starroid Raiders – each Planetoid Raider is a lovingly designed tribute to classic scifi toys and a striking piece of contemporary art. Fans can collect each limited edition, 5-point articulated, 1:18 Scale figure on Kickstarter, including brave Captain Oton, heroic Helmsman Ryot, WarLor the Mysterious Space Traveler, the trusty rusty robot Yogun, and the rest of the team!

The Planetoid Raiders don’t ride alone! Wandering Planet is also introducing fans to the all-new Arcade Raiders, which will come bagged with a hang tag, like Japanese sofubi figures. Retro arcade cabinet blind box packaging will be available as a stretch goal after the campaign raises $65,000. The Planetoid Raiders Kickstarter campaign will launch with a single Arcade Raider available as an add on, and for each funding milestone raised above the funding goal, backers will unlock additional Arcade Raiders that will be made available as a new add-on option to everyone!

The figures in Planetoid Raiders: Wave 1 will be available on retro-inspired card backs or pre-packed in a metal lunchbox-style collector’s case. Wandering Planet Toys will also be creating Planetoid Raiders baseball hats, and an 8 page “Sloog Interlude” mini-comic titled written by Chris “Doc” Wyatt with art by Chris Anderson available exclusively through the Kickstarter campaign. 

In 1977, the year before Kenner officially licensed their classic Star Wars figures, Hong Kong-based indie toy manufacturer Tomland Toys released a wave of action figures loosely inspired by Star Wars. The Starroid Raiders were cheaper and leaner than their Kenner counterparts and could be bought in drug stores and gas stations at low cost. These figures were ugly space weirdos that definitely resembled aliens from a galaxy far far away… just maybe not the exact galaxy fans were thinking of. While many viewed these otherworldly characters as “knock-offs,” their attention-grabbing head sculpts and bright color schemes made them lovable. These misfits and underdogs of the toy box have become highly sought after by collectors around the world. Wandering Planet Toys’ Planetoid Raiders action figures honor Tomland Toys’ wacky tradition of retro cosmic madness. The odd space characters sport designs that look to the past, while also playing with modern design concepts that breathe new life into their retro-futuristic aesthetic.

The Cthulhuchador and Mothman Go Toe To Toe in Cryptid Combat from Wandering Planet Toys

Beware the Horrible Might of Cryptid Combat! Elder Gods and classic cryptids come to life as sofubi-style fighters. Fan-favorite independent toy company Wandering Planet Toys is teaming up with sculptor and horror artist VELIKAN to create two brand-new 5-inch soft vinyl art toys. Inspired by classic horror, cryptids, and professional wrestling, Cthuluchador and The Ultimoth Warrior are ready for battle in the arena and on the toy shelf. Fans can sign up on the Backerkit pre-launch page to receive an email when the campaign launches. 

The showdown of the century will threaten the tenuous sanity of toy collectors everywhere! While fans wrestle with madness, these monsters will wrestle in the ring! In one corner is H.P. Lovecraft’s ancient evil, Cthuluchador! In the other corner is the terror of Point Pleasant, Mothman—the Ultimoth Warrior!

The non-articulated Cryptid Combat figures are rendered in Japanese sofubi-style soft vinyl and are available individually for $75 and in pairs priced at $120, packaged in hang bags with original header card art by VELIKAN. These Hand-Sculpted Horrors come in three unique colorways: THE INSANITY SMACKDOWN, THE MIGHTNIGHT MATCHUP, and FIRE VERSUS ICE (Backerkit Exclusive Edition). In 1967 the cult classic TV series, The Prisoner burst onto the screen. The series, about an unnamed British intelligence agent who awakes to find himself trapped in an idyllic seaside village, was an instant hit with viewers at the time, quickly gaining cult status. While there have been several collectables released over the decades, The Prisoner didn’t receive a line of Officially Licensed action figures until Wandering Planet Toys crowdfunded the first-ever waves of action figures. The success of the first two Prisoner crowdfunding campaigns speaks to the passion longtime and new fans have for the classic series. Wandering Planet Toys has announced the brand new line sofubi toys based on Fletcher Hanks’ most notorious monsters, The Headless Ones, now available for preorder on Backerkit. 

The madman of Golden Age Comics and most twisted comic artist all times, Fletcher Hanks, created “The Headless Ones” villains for his hero Space Smith in the ‘The Thinker,’ first published in Fantastic Comics #4 in March 1940. The Headless Ones, in the service of evil genius “The Thinker”, live on a comet made of pure gold and use their hand-held Ray Projectors. 

The first in a series of limited edition, each 8-inch vinyl figure is handcrafted, featuring three different colorways and ray projector for individual purchase or as a collection. In addition, Wandering Planet Toys will have exclusive add-ons available, including a Headless Ones t-shirt and enamel pin, that honors Fletcher Hanks’ famous introduction panel. The all-in bundle gets backers the Army Builder (one of each of the three colorways) plus the exclusive t-shirt (any size) and the pin.

I am not a number, I am a person… and a Kickstarter. The Prisoner Bends a Little in New Toys

Wandering Planet Toys is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first-ever officially licensed action figure line based on The Prisoner, the cult classic television show starring and created by Patrick McGoohan. The campaign will run until Wednesday, May 26th at 6:06 PM PT.  

In 1967 the cult classic TV series, The Prisoner burst onto the screen. The series, about an unnamed British intelligence agent who awakes to find himself trapped in an idyllic seaside village, was not only an instant hit with viewers at the time, it went on to be watched and re-watched obsessively by fans, quickly gaining cult status. And while there have been several collectibles released over the decades, The Prisoner has never received a line of officially licensed action figures… until now. Wandering Planet Toys, appointed by ITV Studios, will bring to life 4-inch retro-style action figures that celebrate Patrick McGoohan’s brilliant series. 

Wandering Planet Toys’ campaign features multiple tiers:

NUMBER 6 FIRST EDITION features the iconic black jacket with white piping, and the classic 6 badge.

NUMBER 6 KICKSTARTER-EXCLUSIVE “ARRIVAL” EDITION features the Prisoner’s all-black outfit, as seen in the episode “Arrival” and in the opening credit sequence of each episode.

NUMBER 6 BEACH ESCAPE EDITION version of Number 6 is a variant of the First Edition figure, but WITHOUT the #6 badge. This edition features a special cardback featuring the icon moment of Number 6 attempts escape on the Village’s beachfront. 

NUMBER 6 “CHECKMATE”  EDITION. This edition of NUMBER 6 figure sports the multi-colored cloak worn in during the living chess game in the episode “Checkmate” complete with the chess staff.

NUMBER 6 – LIMITED EDITION ROVER PACKAGE. No discussion of THE PRISONER is complete without mention of the Village’s spherical guardian and menace, ROVER. In order to evoke the iconic moment of NUMBER 6 pushed up against the gelatinous side of the guardian, Wandering Planet Toys has created a Limited Edition plastic packaging unit depicting our hero in the belly of the beast. This package is a resealable clamshell so the figure can be removed for display, then reinserted. 

“FREE FOR ALL” TWO-PACK SET. This 2-figure set features NUMBER 6 and NUMBER 2 (as played by Eric Portman). The accessories include NUMBER 6’s hat, bullhorn and election poster from the episode, as well as phones from NUMBER 2’s office.

“SCHIZOID MAN” TWO-PACK SET. This 2-figure set features NUMBER 6 as well as his doppelganger NUMBER 12 (also played by Patrick McGoohan, but with a color-reverse white jacket with black piping). The accessories include two fencing foils, two fencing helmets, and two marksman pistols, and miniature versions of NUMBER 24’s psychic testing “Zener cards”, so that you can hold your own contest to determine which figure is the real NUMBER 6.

DEGREE ABSOLUTE – The “ALL IN” PLEDGE including an EXCLUSIVE Wandering Planet designed THE PRISONER T-Shirt. In addition to the full Wave One product line, backers will also receive an exclusive THE PRISONER T-SHIRT designed by Wandering Planet Toys.
