Artist Series: Ian Miller celebrates the work of legendary fantasy illustrator Ian Miller, whose highly detailed, surreal, and unmistakable art has appeared on Magic cards across multiple eras. Ian Miller’s intricate, surreal fantasy worlds give every image a little more to find the longer you look.

Coming August 28 from LRG Games, Skybound‘s Invincible, The Walking Dead, Birthright, and Excellence are coming to decks and tabletop with the OverPower TCG: Skybound set. It’s the biggest set the company has shipped since bringing OverPower back, and the first time the 30-year-old game has had a wide retail push since the original Marvel/DC era ended. 

Skybound brings 36 new playable characters into the Modern format and slots in cleanly alongside Legacy decks for players who’ve been around since the beginning. As with every OverPower release, the cards are full-art from household names including Jae Lee, Joe Jusko, Marc Silvestri, Philip Tan, and Adam Kubert.

Marking OverPower’s widest retail release in over 30 years, this set will be available at local gaming and comic book stores in the US and Canada — as well as over 900 Best Buy and 1800 GameStop locations nationwide. The game saw a pre-release reveal during San Diego Comic-Con and Gen Con earlier this summer.

Magic: The Gathering Launches Five Secret Lair x The Hobbit Drops

Wizards of the Coast has launched five Secret Lair x The Hobbit drops as part of A Marvelous Mathoms Superdrop. These limited Magic: The Gathering collections follow Bilbo Baggins from Bag End to the Lonely Mountain, with stops for riddles in the dark, meals worth remembering, wild roads, Dragon hoards, and the kind of trouble that tends to begin when someone says it’s time for an adventure.

Secret Lair x The Hobbit: He Who Walks Unseen follows Bilbo Baggins through moments where a Hobbit can vanish from view and still find himself exactly where the trouble is. Available exclusively in the Out of Sight edition, this drop uses a brand-new foil treatment created to emphasize Bilbo’s outline in each scene, whether anyone can see him or not.

Secret Lair x The Hobbit: Second Breakfast and Beyond celebrates one of the great Hobbit traditions: knowing when it is time to eat. Featuring seven food tokens inspired by the seven meals Hobbits enjoy throughout the day, this drop brings breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevenses, and the rest of the day’s essentials to Magic.

Secret Lair x The Hobbit: Over the Edge of the Wild follows Bilbo beyond the comforts of The Shire and into the stranger turns of the road ahead. Inspired by mid-century stop-motion television specials, this drop imagines key moments from The Hobbit with a playful, handmade sensibility suited for Trolls, spiders, forests, and other reasons to reconsider leaving home.

Secret Lair x The Hobbit: Smaug’s Spoils asks what might happen if a few Magic artifacts found their way into Smaug’s hoard. This drop gathers familiar artifacts among the Dragon’s treasure, where gold, gems, and a well-placed Sol Ring all seem like exactly the sort of thing Smaug would prefer no one touch.

Secret Lair x The Hobbit: Desolation brings classic moments from The Hobbit through a darker, metal-inspired lens. Stark, intense, and built around fire, ruin, and confrontation, this drop explores the story’s most brutal edges with art that feels as heavy as the road to the Lonely Mountain.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku

Wizards of the Coast has announced the Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku, a new ready-to-play 100-card Commander deck celebrating the global virtual singer through dazzling artwork, joyful gameplay, and the unmistakable energy of a stadium-sized pop performance.

Designed by Magic: The Gathering’s Carmen Klomparens, this deck is the first Universes Beyond Secret Lair Commander Deck, combining the creativity of Secret Lair with one of the world’s most recognizable virtual performers. Headlined by Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice as “Miku, Song of the People,” the deck invites players to flood the board with creatures, gain massive amounts of life, and turn that momentum into a performance worthy of an encore.

Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku captures the bright, expressive, and collaborative spirit that has made Hatsune Miku a global phenomenon. The deck features 13 cards with new art by Japanese artists, including a special illustration by KEI, Hatsune Miku’s first software packaging illustrator, for Miku, Song of the People. Additional artists, including fan-favorite creators such as 八三/HASSAN, and さいとうなおき/NAOKI SAITO, help bring Miku to life. That visual celebration carries through to the mana base with foil borderless basic lands featuring new artwork, making the deck feel like a full Miku production from the first land drop to the final encore.

UniVersus Reveals its 2027 Roadmap includes Warhammer 40,000, Hellboy, Invincible, and more!

UVS Games has unveiled the 2027 roadmap for UniVersus, showcasing an exciting lineup of upcoming releases and giving players their first look at what’s ahead for one of tabletop gaming’s oldest card games. 

Revealed through a new roadmap trailer, the 2027 lineup includes some of the most requested and recognizable franchises to ever join UniVersus, spanning anime, comics, and tabletop gaming. 

Warhammer 40,000 arrives in UniVersus with a Booster Set, 2-Player Starter Deck, and more. From the myriad war zones of the Imperium to the horrific depths of the warp, players will be able to bring the unending conflict of the 41st Millennium to their UniVersus battles. 

The roadmap also includes the arrival of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure with Challenger Series releases based on Golden Wind and Stone Ocean, the debut of Persona 5 Royal through two Challenger Series releases, and a new Critical Role Booster Set centered on Bells Hells from Campaign 3. 

Some additional releases include two Challenger Series products based on Mike Mignola’s Hellboy universe and a full Booster Set inspired by Skybound’s Invincible comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. 

The 2027 roadmap continues UniVersus’ tradition of bringing together beloved franchises from across entertainment while expanding the game’s ever-growing roster of characters and worlds.

Wizards of the Coast has launched Mood Swings, an all-new prototype trading card game. Blending the collectibility and variety of traditional TCGs with quick, 5–10 minute gameplay, Mood Swings – 1st Edition is available exclusively on MagicSecretLair.com.

Mood Swings was created by Mark Rosewater, Head Designer of Magic: The Gathering. Designed as a faster, more accessible take on the genre, Mood Swings is a light strategy game for two to four players with no deckbuilding required. 

Inside every Mood Swings deckbox is a randomized set of forty-five game cards, a rules card, and a play aide card. It has everything you need to play with two to four people right out of the box. Each round, every player plays a card, eventually adding up the scores of all the cards in play, with the highest scorer winning the round. Win three rounds and win the game. Cards represent moods and emotions, with effects tied to their attributes, so when played, they can alter the playing field and then shift the rules. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Celebrates World Championship 2026 With a New Limited Pack Booster Set

Konami is celebrating another year of competitive Dueling with the launch of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Limited Pack World Championship 2026 booster set on August 29, 2026. 

The 21-card collector-focused release highlights standout cards and strategies from the 2025-2026 World Championship season. 

This set includes 21 cards. 20 are available as Ultra Rares and Secret Rares, and the 21st card is available as Secret Rare and Starlight Rare. Some cards will also feature the World Championship 2026 logo emblazoned on their text box!

New for this year, to celebrate the World Championship host Japan, you can find several variant art versions of popular cards, drawn in a distinctive style inspired by Ukiyo-e, an art style that was popular in the Edo period (the 1600s through the 1800s).”

The OverPower Trading Card Game adds The Few and Cursed
