Blitmap heads to Tokyo Comic Con 2023

Blitmap #2

Sup Comics has announced that it will be exhibiting at Tokyo Comic Con 2023, booth E-32, December 8-10th. This will be the first time that readers will be able to pick up a copy of Blitmap #2 ahead of its official release date on December 20th, which features new cover artists (Dudu Torres and Toni Infante), added action and a deeper dive into the Blitmap world.

In partnership with Titan Publishing, the first issue in the thrilling new 6-issue sci-fi series set in a vibrant solarpunk metropolis launched worldwide in October, and became highly sought after by collectors, including it hitting the #1 bestseller spot at Midtown Comics.

One of the factors of its success is that every foil-wrapped blind bag of Blitmap comes with a completely individual cover variant. No, really. Like every single cover

Sup’s team of engineers and artists took 6 months to develop a new patent-pending printing technology called “Hyperpress” so that every single copy is a collector’s item. So you discover your cover when you open it. A feat achieved without using Artificial Intelligence.

Marvel to Publish New Ultraman Comics

Marvel Entertainment and Tsuburaya Productions have announced a collaboration that will bring new Ultraman stories to comics and graphic novels! Unveiled at Tokyo Comic Con, this new collaboration will launch in 2020.

Ultraman has been a pop culture classic ever since its introduction in the 1960s, resulting in more than 50 years of stories told on screen and in the pages of manga and comics. Today, Ultraman continues to be a worldwide phenomenon, but fans will always remember the groundbreaking thrill and wonder of the first generation of Ultraman that started it all. Beginning next year, Marvel will expand that iconic era of the Ultras through the lens of Marvel’s art and storytelling.

Story and creative team details will be shared at a later date.

Steve Wozniak Introduces Tokyo Comic Con

Tokyo Comic ConSteve Wozniak did a lot for the computer industry and we’ll see if he does the same for the geek convention. First up, he’ll be launching the Silicon Valley Comic Con in March, but he has unveiled his role in bringing the first-ever American-style Tokyo Comic Con (TCC) to Japan. A sister event to Woz’s SVCC coming to San Jose, CA in March 2016, Tokyo Comic Con will bring a new American-style pop culture experience to Japan, uniquely featuring top international celebrities from movies and TV shows, and providing a special experience for fans to meet their favorite stars, take photos together, and sign autographs.

Tokyo Comic Con will celebrate the best in entertainment and technology under one big roof. Different genres and artists in comics, cosplay, science fiction, fantasy, anime and more will be in the spotlight, while panels, talks, autograph sessions, photo ops, and many more events will ensure fans can enjoy special experiences with their favorite celebrities and content.

In addition to showcasing pop culture favorites, Tokyo Comic Con will celebrate Japan’s technology leaders who provide innovative products in Japan and around the world. TCC will focus mainly on consumer technologies that impact our daily lives, such as mobile devices, apps, and games. As new developments like AI, robots, driverless cars and more are captivating our imaginations, Tokyo Comic Con will also showcase the cutting edge of what is coming next. Tokyo Comic Con tickets will go on sale next March.

At the announcement event in Japan, Woz welcomed Ian McDiarmid, best known for his role as Emperor Palpatine, and Ray Park, who portrayed Darth Maul in the Star Wars films. This weekend, December 5-6, 2015, fans will be able to meet Ian and Ray at a special fan event at the Shinagawa InterCity Hall to celebrate the countdown to Tokyo Comic Con 2016.
