Steve Wozniak Introduces Tokyo Comic Con

Tokyo Comic ConSteve Wozniak did a lot for the computer industry and we’ll see if he does the same for the geek convention. First up, he’ll be launching the Silicon Valley Comic Con in March, but he has unveiled his role in bringing the first-ever American-style Tokyo Comic Con (TCC) to Japan. A sister event to Woz’s SVCC coming to San Jose, CA in March 2016, Tokyo Comic Con will bring a new American-style pop culture experience to Japan, uniquely featuring top international celebrities from movies and TV shows, and providing a special experience for fans to meet their favorite stars, take photos together, and sign autographs.

Tokyo Comic Con will celebrate the best in entertainment and technology under one big roof. Different genres and artists in comics, cosplay, science fiction, fantasy, anime and more will be in the spotlight, while panels, talks, autograph sessions, photo ops, and many more events will ensure fans can enjoy special experiences with their favorite celebrities and content.

In addition to showcasing pop culture favorites, Tokyo Comic Con will celebrate Japan’s technology leaders who provide innovative products in Japan and around the world. TCC will focus mainly on consumer technologies that impact our daily lives, such as mobile devices, apps, and games. As new developments like AI, robots, driverless cars and more are captivating our imaginations, Tokyo Comic Con will also showcase the cutting edge of what is coming next. Tokyo Comic Con tickets will go on sale next March.

At the announcement event in Japan, Woz welcomed Ian McDiarmid, best known for his role as Emperor Palpatine, and Ray Park, who portrayed Darth Maul in the Star Wars films. This weekend, December 5-6, 2015, fans will be able to meet Ian and Ray at a special fan event at the Shinagawa InterCity Hall to celebrate the countdown to Tokyo Comic Con 2016.
